New Moon Easter Eggs

No, we don’t mean the Easter Bunny is visiting Forks.  For those of you who don’t know the term “Easter Egg” in a film context, according to Wikipedia it means, “A virtual Easter egg is an intentional hidden message, in-joke or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, computer program, web page or video game. The term was coined – according to Warren Robinett – by Atari after they were pointed to the secret message left by Robinett in the game Adventure.[1] It draws a parallel with the custom of the Easter egg hunt observed in many Western nations as well as the last Russian imperial family’s tradition of giving elaborately jeweled egg-shaped creations by Carl Fabergé which contained hidden surprises.”

So using the Twilight movie as an example, Easter Eggs would be Stephenie’s Cameo appearance and the take-off on the Twilight cover with the “edible art” routine.

So here’s what we were just told by Summit:

“Here are details on a special NEW MOON exclusive from Chris Weitz, please feel free to share with your readers.

Director Chris Weitz has a list of 5 things from NEW MOON you may have missed, available only on the Twilight Tracker iPhone & iPod Touch App.  The Twilight Tracker App can be downloaded here — itunes.com/twilight

Check this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly for 5 additional items, and see NEW MOON again to spot the hidden easter eggs!”

New Moon’s Oscar Potential

According to MTV’s Hollywood Crush, the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (a.k.a. the people who put on The Academy Awards every year) announced their shortlist of nominees for Best Original Song. Lykke Li’s “Possibility” from “New Moon” was included on the list.”

Now as great as this sounds, MTV clarifies what the ironically named “short list” means. “a bit of perspective should be laid out. The “shortlist” rings in at 63 songs, which makes us think the long list must have comprised of just about every song included in a film this year.”

Rachelle Lefevre’s Beloved Dog, Honey

Rachelle Lefevre’s dog, Honey, who Rachelle has spoken about numerous times died yesterday.

Honey had been sick for the past month, and was notably hospitalized on the day of the New Moon premiere. Honey was a adopted by Rachelle and her boyfriend from a rescue organization, a cause that Rachelle has long supported. In fact there is a current auction on Ebay to win a coffee date with Rachelle that supports this very cause. Our hearts go out to Rachelle, as anyone knows who is an animal lover, it is like losing a member of your family.

Taylor Lautner Working With Summit On Another Movie

According to Variety, Taylor Lautner and his newly formed production company (So new in fact this is the first we’re hearing of it.) is going to produce and action flick set in Cancun that utilizes Taylor’s considerable martial arts skills. In case you missed it, check out Taylor using those skills during his SNL monologue. They film be a Summit Entertainment venture with Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey also producing this venture.

What sure to get everyone buzzing is the last paragraph in the story:

“Godfrey said the project grew out of Lautner’s enthusiasm for “Taken” — which he saw during the filming of “New Moon” — and his desire to do a movie in the genre. The Champnella/Thompson script offered the

opportunity for the former karate champ to use the brawn and physical skills he displayed during his recent hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

We wanted to continue working with Taylor and feel he’s got the chops to become a big action star,” Godfrey said.

Lautner recently became attached to “Max Steel” at Paramount.

Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.”

There is no word on how this will affect Taylor’s participation in the Max Steel project that he is also attached to. Get the whole story on Variety.

The Valentine’s Day Trailer..in German

Why German you may ask? Because in stunning display of marketing prowess known only to those connected to the film, Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift (two of the hottest commodities in the entertainment industry today) appear nowhere in the currently available American version.

The video has been removed for copy write issues in some places.  We have found an alternate but we assume it will be down shortly.  Here is a link to the video that works as of 6 pm EST.  If you reach this post and the video is gone and want to know what happened as far as Taylor and Taylor are concerned, you can read below the cut. Alphie speaks a LITTLE German and sort of understood what was going on.

We did find that Cullens News has screen caps of the scenes.
