Anna Kendrick on Hit Fix: Her Future Plans

Greg from Hit Fix manged to catch up with Anna Kendrick in Toronto(pictured left Credit: AP Photo/Evan Agostini) and asked her a couple of questions about Up in the Air and her future in the Twilight Saga movies.

“A year ago I spoke with Dev Patel right after “Slumdog Millionaire” had debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.  The Brit’s first feature film, like many, Patel still couldn’t grasp the amazing road the eventual Best Picture-winning movie was going to take or the part he would play in it.  At the time,  having seen the journey of recent word-of-mouth contenders such as “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Juno,” I told him to savor as much of it as he could and enjoy the wild ride.  The same scenario is about to engulf up and coming actress Anna Kendrick…

: OK, the ‘Twilight’ questions you knew were coming.  Did you shoot ‘Air’ after ‘New Moon’

[Actually] I went to shoot ‘New Moon’ while I was still shooting ‘Up in the Air.’ I had to run back and forth.

Q: Was that hard?

It’s funny because the characters are so different and I was wrapped up in Natalie world, but Jessica, the character that I play in the series, is such a silly girl it was almost like a little escape to go and just play and just monologue about nothing.  Basically, I would go up to Vancouver and shoot a scene where something was [already] written, but [director] Chris Weitz would tell me to keep talking because we had to do all of it in one take as a ‘walk and talk’ and have it feel the space. So, he’d just tell me to say random stuff and it was like stretching in the middle of doing a marathon.”

Xavier Samuel at the Toronto Film Festival

Larry from ProNetworks caught up with Xavier Samuel, whose career he has been following way before the Eclipse madness started, at the Loved Ones party. He has pictures with Xavier’s co-star Victoria Thaine and the promise of more to come.

“Greetings once again from the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival!…Needless to say, TIFF 2009 is shaping up to be another winner….I have a brief break from the action before my next screening so I wanted to post a few pictures I just shot. Tonight is the International Premiere of Sean Byrne’s The Loved Ones, one of the choices I previewed last week. The screening is part of the Midnight Madness series — this is my fourth night attending the program — and I’ve just returned from a party thrown by Midnight Madness programmer Colin Geddes to celebrate the 10-night series and the debut of The Loved Ones in less than three hours. ”

Later on Larry tweeted during the party. Here is what he had to say about Xavier:

” Xavier LOVES his fans and is humbled.”
“Xavier Samuel performance in The Loved Ones gives new meaning to the term “tortured actor”
“Xavier Samuel will #Eclipse most young actors in this awesome performance. It’s too bad they don’t have Oscars for Best at Enduring Pain.”
“Xavier Samuel pulls off a stunning agonizingly horrific performance in The Loved Ones …NOT for the faint of heart.”
“.Xavier Samuel does NOT have a Twitter. My source is Xavier Samuel.

100 Monkeys Take Vancouver By Storm

100 Monkeys had a great show up in Vancouver this weekend by all accounts.

Vancity Allie described the show as, “I thought they did a nice job with the stage setup and the lighting. Shadows, vibrant coloured lighting, and tall dark angular shapes danced across a back screen as the band played to hundreds of photo flashes going off every minute for the duration of the show.”

She shot video of one the the standard part of the group’s act which is to make up a song on the spot using a word suggested by the audience. The word that night was acorn.

Mandy was also at the concert and described it as, “100 Monkeys are amazing performers and rumour is they will have another show in Vancouver announced VERY soon :)”

She also met the band at a signing event the following day that has an amusing story and video to go with it.

Mandy also was able to meet Stephenie Meyer, who was at the concert. You can see her encounter here.

Video in HQ For Those Abroad Blocked By MTV

We know we know, those who are not in the US frequently can’t see MTV coverage. Pel personally feels your pain because she is always going on about not being able to see BBC coverage. Anyway the version below via AOL Moviefone should be able to be viewed by anyone.

Death Cab For Cutie: Meet Me On The Equinox Full Version

MTV Version of the Trailer

Essentially the version of the trailer that aired on MTV was very similar to what is currently playing in front of Sorority Row in theaters (AKA what leaked all over the Internet earlier this week).

The only slight differences that we noticed are as follows:

-shot of Bella in cafeteria missing Edward

-slightly different narration from Bella about needing danger to see Edward

-added shot of Jacob saying to Bella don’t go stay with me

-extended Volturi encounter of Felix and Demitri saying “The girl comes with us” and Edward replying, “Go to hell”

We give it a hot 10  minutes before someone uploads it to YouTube. Or you can watch what Hollywood crush just provided below!

Fashion wise we thought Kristen’s hair looked fabulous. Way to hide the mullet! Rob and Taylor looked great too.

Anna Kendrick Hits Big In Toronto

Anna Kendrick is the buzz of the town up in Toronto along with her fellow castmates in Up in the Air. People are talking Oscar for the film, director, and cast.

During the press conference (photo left Photo Credit: AP Photo/Evan Agostini) George Clooney teased Anna with quips like, “”these people made this film work – except for her, Anna.” Anna, just smiled and took the good natured ribbing. it has to be surreal being affectionately teased by Clooney at a major film festival, especially a film that got so much buzz that Oprah and her entourage showed up to see it causing a distraction.

Perhaps Greg From Hit Fix sums it up best (Minor error, Anna was the second youngest to get a Tony nomination. Daisy Egan is the youngest.):

“Actually, any “Twilight” fan already knows Kendrick as Jessica from Forks High, but the 24-year-old didn’t arrive in Hollywood out of nowhere. She turned heads with her work in the indie “Rocket Science” a few years ago and also happens to be the youngest Tony Award nominee on record having been recognized for her work at only 12-years-old. Kendrick also has a prominent role in the upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” as the title hero’s sister Stacy. So, to the creative community, she’s not an unknown quantity. In “Air,” however, Kendrick shines as Natalie, an eager type-A manager whose miniscule real life experiences haven’t prepared her for her company’s primary profit center of laying off other people’s employees. To be completely honest, Kendrick could have phoned this role in and still gotten positive notices on the strength of the script alone, but like Carey Mulligan in “An Education,” she brings something more to her character that will have audiences talking about her as they exit the theater. Along with “Precious'” Mo’Nique, she’s one of the two supporting actress candidates to really watch out for this year…”

MTV later caught up with Anna on the red carpet at another event.

Happy Birthday Bella!

Happy Birthday Bella, forever young!

David Slade on the Paparazzi

It sounds like Kristen and Taylor had to concentrate knowing they were being filmed by the paparazzi:

According to David Slade’s tweets:

Yes we were shooting Bella and Jacob’s kiss on the mountain, its really a grueling emotional thing to have to shoot over and over.”

We had paparazzi on the ridge about 1/2mile away, their pictures will look bizarre they would have had to use 1000mm+ lenses.”

Really really long paparazzi lenses make everything look terrible, one snuck close to set and was kicked off, another was arrested last week.”

I don’t mind these pap pics, its just annoying when it stops us from shooting, or the images are completely unrepresentative of our shots.”

Bah.”

Today preparation, and the day off, tomorrow editing.”
