Runaways Costar on Kristen Stewart
There are two recent interviews where Kristen Stewart’s co-star, Scout Taylor-Compton, in Runaways talks about working with her. It was just announced today that Runaways will debut at Sundance next year.
The first is from Popstar:
“Photographers and fans were all over the place during the shoot because of Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning and the whole Twilight phenomenon. Kristen has said she was stunned by how Twilight changed The Game for her. Would you ever want to be that famous that quickly? And did you discuss it at all with Kristen?
Kristen and I actually talked about that. She didn’t see that coming. She never thought it would be like that. It all happened so fast, so it was shocking and it makes it hard to get into the mold of things. One second you’re walking down the street and you’re fine, and the next moment you’re walking down that same street and everyone knows who you are. That’s hard. It’s an uncomfortable thing. You have to get used to it, but that takes time. (People ask if she’d want that to be in Stewart’s position) and it’s an awful, awful question. Do I want it? I don’t necessarily want that. What I want is for my work to be recognized and for people to enjoy my work. And I want more work. That’s honestly all I want.”
You can read the entire Popstar interview here.
The next is from IESB:
“Q: What music are you into personally?
Scout: I like Alkaline Trio. I love soft rock, hard rock and old rock. I love Blondie. Rob actually gave me a couple of Blondie records. I like Madonna. On The Runaways set, my best friend Michael and I were obsessed with Miley Cyrus’, “Party in the USA.” It’s good dance stuff. Me, Kristen, Dakota and my best friend were obsessed with that song. That’s my little downfall. But, I mostly listen to rock.

New Moon Tickets On Sale At Select Theaters
Screen Rant did the legwork on this one. Earlier in the day Reuters talked about certain Carmike chains starting to presell New Moon tickets. We were having trouble figuring out which ones, and now it’s Screen Rant to the rescue.
“Alright all you Twilighters out there, for those of you who are already preparing your trip to the movie theater to see The Twilight Saga: New Moon this November, you can now do so safe in the knowledge that you’re guaranteed a seat. Tickets for the midnight screenings of New Moon have now gone on sale more than two and half months in advance.
Carmike Cinemas are offering tickets for midnight showings of New Moon on November 19th, at 63 of their 247 theaters. This “early sell” campaign is happening much in the same vein as the (WAY) advanced sale of tickets for James Cameron’s Avatar. Early word is that the Avatar pre-sales are being described as “healthy.”
Get the exact rundown on Screen Rant.

The awards are again being presented by Russell Brand who was widely acknowledged among fans to have been something of a disaster offending Twilight Fans by cutting off the cast, The Jonas Brothers and Jordan Sparks for making fun of their promise rings(in fact Jordan is wondering why Brand was invited back), and political humor that just fell flat. Let’s hope it gets better this year. Will you be watching?
Stephenie Meyer in Vainity Fair Influential 100
Stephenie Meyer has made the list of Vanity Fair magazine’s “The New Establishment 2009” in the number 82 position. It’s basically a list of what you could call the movers and shakers of the past year.
“STAGE OF GLOBAL CONQUEST: The Mormon housewife’s Twilight teen-vampire romance novels sold nearly 29 million copies in one year, capturing the top four positions on the USA Today best-seller list for 2008, making her the first author ever to do so. (J. K. Rowling came close with Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 with her Harry Potter titles in 2000.) The movie version of Twilight grossed $191 million in the U.S., and the film adaptation of her second book, New Moon, opens in November. Meyer has also inspired hundreds of Web sites from fans who call themselves “Stephen-ites” or “Twi-hards.”?”
So congrats Stephenie, and anyone ever referred to themself or heard her fans referred to as “Stephen-ites” before? That term is a new one on us.

New Moon Bringing on The Year of the Werewolf?
According to MSNBC 2010 may well be the year of the werewolf as much as 2009 from Twilight-True Blood was the year of the vampire. Everything from New Moon’s shape shifters to a remake of The Wolfman is slated.
“Vampires, move over: Werewolves are about to claw their way to the top.
Besides the sudden sprouting of hair expected on Jacob (Taylor Lautner) come Nov. 20’s release of the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” MTV is getting ready to howl with a TV version of the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie “Teen Wolf,” about a high-school kid who discovers the strange effects of a full moon, says the Hollywood Reporter.”
If early ticket sales are any indication, it looks like they may be on to something here.

New Moon Goes Habbo
According to AdWeek, Summit has struck a deal with Habbo to create a virtual Twilight world within the framework of its existing worlds:
“Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the red-hot Twilight movie franchise, has inked a deal with Habbo, a Web-based virtual playground popular among tweens and teens in more than 30 countries, to cross-promote the upcoming The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Starting in November, a few weeks prior to New Moon’s Nov. 20 premiere, Habbo will roll out a New Moon-themed virtual space within its 31 virtual worlds around the globe. In addition, site users who create avatars (videogame-like versions of themselves) will be able to decorate their own “rooms” with virtual goods based on the movie.
Details are still being worked out, but Habbo officials said they also likely to promote both the movie and the virtual Moon-themed environment with an online media campaign. Plus, Summit executives are planning to reach out to various Twilight fan communities on the Web to drum up interest in the program.”
Now if you want to know, what exactly is this Habbo, virtual reality thing. Wikipedia has a great basic description. It’s one of those things that’s hard to describe unless you have played it. So, are you a Habbo person?
