Now if you don’t  win (but we sure hope you do) you can still but tickets. Check out this entry to see how you can do this convention for a day for not much more than the price of a movie ticket, or how to do it for the weekend for under $100.

Also one last item of note. Frequently on Twitter, because of the 140 character limit, people shorten the name of any Twilight convention to “twicon”.  Not a big deal, but it does and has caused some confusion because there was also a company that did a convention last year in Dallas that has just gone out of business called “twicon”. Creation Entertainment, HUB Productions, Twilight FanTrips, Eternal Twilight, etc. all have events that people sometimes shorten to “twicon” but these companies have never had any association with TwiCon Partners LLC . TwiCon Parters LLC was only in business for slightly more than two years . They did a convention last year in Dallas and was supposed to do two this year in Vegas and Toronto/Ottowa, but they have now gone out of business. Creation Entertainment, HUB Productions, Twilight FanTrips, Eternal Twilight,  have been in the convention business for decades doing business in many fandoms.

Follow the Twilight Lexicon on Facebook and Twitter

Especially if you have a smart phone, one of the easiest ways to keep up with your Twilight news is by following the Lexicon on Facebook and Twitter.

We do all kinds of random chatting on Twitter which we like to think is fun, we live tweet the Official Creation Twilight conventions, and red carpet events like we did with Remember Me (mind you, we would have LOVED to have done the New Moon carpet but there was no signal that day). Some of our favorite Twitter pictures: Kiowa Gordon, Kellan Lutz, Robert Pattinson

We do the same sort of thing over on Facebook, and now we’ve made it easier to comment on the blog using your Facebook ID if you want.  Right now we are actually giving away a Peter facinelli autograph to a Facebook follower, so come and join us!

VMan: AKA Hello Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz

xavier-2Both Kellan Lutz and Xavier Samuel (Riley in Eclipse) are in a new photo spread, according to MTV Hollywood crush, on VMan.

According to Hollywood Crush: “You were probably just going along with your Friday, getting ready for the weekend. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then these photos of five super-hot actors looking dapper in suits for a style feature in the latest issue of VMAN (it hits stands on April 20) came along, guaranteed to add 100 percent more drool to your day. Don’t thank us. We do it because we love you.”

Xavier seems to be sporting a Don Johnson retro Miami Vice look from the late 1980’s.

Check it all out.

Water For Elephant’s Extras Casting, and Expectations

robOKbaftaWell it looks like we called it when last week we said that producers for Waters for Elephants, staring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon among others, were going to get more than they bargained for by putting out an extras casting notice on Craig’s List. Between the Pattinson craze and the fact that a lot of people don’t read the fine details, well things aren’t quite going to plan.

According to the Water for Elephant’s site as pointed out to us by MTV’s Hollywood Crush:

“Earlier in the week WaterforElephantsfilm.com broke the news that Water for Elephants was holding an open casting call for Extras to appear in the film.  Well, at first sites like Mtv.com were posting the correct details (Robert Pattinson’s ‘Water For Elephants’ Is Looking For Extras!) but before  we knew it we were seeing  headlines such as these in our email in-boxes:

Want to be on screen with Robert Pattinson?

Want to star in a movie with Robert Pattinson?

How To Star Opposite Robert Pattinson

I think that many of these attention getting headlines were just that, meant to catch your attention as opposed to disseminate misinformation, but it has created some serious confusion.

The majority of the stories out there seem to be accurate, however to clarify things, click here to see the casting information directly from the Casting Agency. The casting is for non-speaking extras and background performers. This is NOT an open casting call for speaking roles.”

The site then goes on to explain what typically happens when you are an extra, and what your expectations should be as your arrive. So if you fit the types that they are looking for, break-a-leg! If you’re not what they are looking for we would personally recommend that you not go down because it will probably only antagonize the organizers of the call, and that’s never a good thing.

Poll: What are you most looking forward to in Eclipse?

News is slow today, folks.   I’m just going to come out and admit it!  But as I’ve learned over the years, Twilight fans love to share their opinions, especially when it concerns how things will translate from book to film.  I’d like to know which scene you are all most looking forward to seeing make that move from book to film.  Since I haven’t seen the film, I’ve made the choices from scenes I’ve heard the actors talk about – scenes that I know were at least filmed and will probably make the final cut of the film.  Kristen Stewart has spoken about the scene where Bella imagines a life with Jacob.  We’ve heard rumbles about Jasper and the newborns.  We’ve had hints to Rosalie and her bridal death scene.  We know Edward and Bella end up engaged.  Victoria has to die.  David Slade even tweeted about the tent scene.   So I’m pretty sure all of these moments will be in the final film.  Vote for the one you are most excited about and let us know why you chose that scene.  If there is another scene you’re crossing your fingers for, let us know about that one, too!

Kristen Stewart to star in “An American Girl”

Clevver TV has a video on Kristen Stewart playing a marine serving in Iraq in the film “An American Girl.”

Kristen Stewart Trifecta: EW, Vogue, and Flaunt

kstewrunKristen Stewart is going to be rocking the pages of a bunch of magazines in the near future.

First up is EW. They previewed a bit of what is to come in their summer issues.  They teased a bit of a Kristen interview:

“For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”

Next, Kristen landed on Teen Vogue’s best dressed list for March. Good thing she was still 19 in March.

And lastly there is a 14 page interview of Kristen coming out in Flaunt Magazine

Go Cruising Vampire Style

cruise

Cruise Critic is an online cruise guide that offers comprehensive resource for cruise travelers, from first-time cruisers to avid cruisers features professional reviews and member reviews of more than 350 ships and hosts an active community where travelers share experiences and opinions with fellow cruisers. They just put out a press release covering what they consider to be the best vampire themed cruises out there.

Special-interest cruises, known as theme cruises, are the ideal way to get up-close and personal with your favorite celebs, or enjoy leisurely vacations at sea while pursuing interests in everything from Harley-Davidson motorcycles, to “Twilight.” Even musicians, soap stars, sports legends, celebrity chefs and politicians are hosting theme cruises. However, one particular group of fans — vampire fans — has really gotten its teeth into cruising.

This year’s big ticket will be The Alaska Twilight Cruise and Convention, where fans of the Twilight saga vampire books and movies will be able to meet stars of the movie during a weeklong fan fest. Team Edward and Team Jacob — the names given to fans who favor either of the two main characters — unite for this cruise on Holland America’s Oosterdam, August 8-15, 2010.

Vampire-related theme cruises began in 2007 with the Slayer Cruise, which hosted actors from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” and, earlier this year, the Fangs and Fur Cruise, featuring screen writer Judy Burns, celebrated popular vampire books and movies — including “True Blood,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Twilight,” and “Dracula.”

Here at Cruise Critic(R) (http://www.cruisecritic.com) — the cruise reviews and news site — we have put together our list of the best cruises for vampire-lovers.

Cruise Critic’s Best Cruises for Vampires (and Their Fans)

Join The Alaska Twilight Cruise and Convention at Sea

Passengers will be able to meet stars from the movies — including Alex Meraz (who played Paul in “Twilight”), Michael Welch (Mike Newton in “New Moon”) and Jodelle Ferland (Bree in the forthcoming movie “Eclipse”) — pose for photos with the celebs and enjoy themed activities like a costume ball. The cruise operator even offers an additional three-day tour to Forks, Washington, where the story is set, before the Twilight cruise sets sail.

Take a River Cruise to Romania, and Visit Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania

Forget the fictional variety, and hunt for “real” vampires on a trip to Transylvania. Take an Eastern European river cruise into Romania with Viking River Cruises’ Eastern European Odyssey River Cruise, and add on a trip to Brasov for a tour of “Dracula’s Castle,” actually Bram Castle, which once belonged to Vlad the Impaler.

Visit Vampire-Friendly New Orleans

Home of Anne Rice — author of the “Vampire Chronicles” — and the setting for much of “Interview with the Vampire,” New Orleans embraces its vampire heritage with tours and tales galore. Vampire fans can add on a few days’ stay in New Orleans before or after embarking on a Caribbean cruise from the port. British cruise line P&O offers a 30-night cruise on Aurora, taking in 11 ports in eight countries, including a stop in New Orleans.

Join the Annual Gothic Cruise and Masquerade Ball

Referred to simply as the Gothic Cruise (for brevity), this cruise is for fans of goth and industrial music and has been held annually for the past 15 years. Taking place on Carnival Liberty in September, the Gothic Cruise is not vampire-themed, per se. But, because there’s a particular affinity for vampires among goth fans, and the typical formalwear on the cruise is Victorian style, we think vampires would enjoy this cruise.

David Slade Chimes in On Rumors

david-sladeDavid Slade Tweeted his reaction to yesterday’s rumors:

“In London overseeing the film score w/Mr Howard Shore and enjoying all the gossip flying around. Onwards to the Eclipse!!”

It reminded us of that old quote from Mae West, “I don’t care what the newspapers say about me as long as they spell my name right.” Well, David and the movie sure got a lot of PR yesterday on what has been a relatively slow news week.

Kellan Lutz In Interview Magazine

Interview Magazine, that has had recent features with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner now has a piece with Kellan Lutz.

“Actor, action-movie star, farmhand, Calvin Klein underwear model, and nascent motivational speaker, Kellan Lutz is the man of the moment. The determined 25-year-old Lutz has made a name for himself with roles as a cocky, good-looking jock with rich parents on CW’s 90210, a soldier stationed in Iraq in HBO’s Generation Kill (2008), and a vampire in the Twilight series—a trifecta of mainstream masculinity. He is a superhero-in-waiting, unbothered by an unbuttoned shirt, and thirsty for a franchise phenomenon of his own.

Born in North Dakota and raised in Arizona with frequent visits to the family farm in Iowa, Lutz has a backstory that is authentically rugged and thoroughly American—a Bruce Weber–esque narrative that became an actual Bruce Weber narrative in 2004 when Lutz appeared, photographed by Weber, on the cover of the A&F Quarterly magazine. But it’s Hollywood time now, and Lutz is hard at work. There’s this month’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake; a turn as a hotheaded lacrosse player opposite fellow Twilight-er Ashley Greene in Warrior; the independent murder mystery Meskada with Nick Stahl and Grace Gummer; and then, most importantly, more Twilight (the third installment, Eclipse, is out in June). Lutz believes in paying it forward and the laws of attraction. Even stray pups follow him home.”
