J: Well in the movie he is old. He just told you he is three hundred and fifty years old, but he never ages. He is very pale because he is a vampire, but if he is caught in the sunlight, he twinkles.
P: It’s hard to look good dead.
A: No, I don’t mean that. I mean that you look very mature like you look like the father like its very apparent.
P: Well, I also played him very mature which is kind of one hundred and eighty degrees from the character I play on Nurse Jackie which is very immature. So I brought, hopefully, a lot of maturity to the character which is what you’re seeing and not seeing me as an old vampire geezer guy. ”

SM: You know, I feel like the fans, they know, they know me. I feel like they kinda know who I am and that I appreciate them. I write for myself, and I have to, but I appreciate them because having an audience is a gift and I do not take that for granted. It is really amazing to sit in a room with people and talk about people that you made up: “Hey, let’s talk about my imaginary friends!” And you guys care about my imaginary friends, and that’s weird, but…
(chatter and laughter)
Fansite: At least you don’t have to take medication for it.
SM: Exactly! [inaudible] I get to talk to people about it. I’m not a therapist. No, it’s cool because writing is—for me, everybody has something different for them. And you guys all write, in a different way, but I’m assuming there’s a lot of pleasure in it for you or you wouldn’t do it and so you know what it is to have somebody read what you’ve written and enjoy it. It’s a really big deal, and so I just hope that people keep reading. I hope they give me a chance. I hope when my next book isn’t Midnight Sun that people still will give it a chance. I feel bad that that’s a negative for the fandom and it’s something I that I want to do, but I want to do it right, and that’s just how—and I only write when it brings me joy.
Fansite: Your happy place.
SM: It is my happy place. And having readers is a different happy place, but a really fun one. And as you can see from the books I love reading. I love books. I love being in that world and one of the coolest things with helping, you know making people happy, is [for] a lot of people this is the springboard and then they go on to bigger and better and exciting books. There’s so many cool things out there. People that—being a reader is who I am my whole life—and that people haven’t discovered that makes me a little crazy. It’s like: “No! There’s so much!” I remember talking to a guy when I was touring for The Host and he was mic-ing me up for the Glenn Beck thing that I did, which was weird. I haven’t done that a lot where you’re looking at a camera and you’re supposed to be talking to them…and oh it’s creepy. We’re talking and he’s like: “So you wrote a book about aliens?” And I’m like: “Yeah.” And I said, “What do you like to read?” He says, “Oh I don’t read books. I’ve read maybe three books in my life. I hate reading.” And I thought, “That’s because they gave you the wrong ones!” They gave him the wrong ones and he has no idea of all the stuff that he’s missing. It makes me a little crazy. I just want everyone to go out and find Jasper Fforde. And I want [them] to go out and find Mark Zusak and I want them to find these amazing books and go to the young adult section and find what’s out there. There’s so much. If you haven’t read Suzanne Collins, oh my gosh, do it!”

Rachelle talked about her upcoming film Barney’s Version (the film that was in conflict with the Eclipse shoot schedule)
“We’re sitting in a typical hole-in-the-wall café in Little Italy, the cement floor amplifying the noise of the cappucino machine and old men gossiping at a back table, when a young man approaches and says he thinks he knows Rachelle Lefevre.
The Montreal-born, Hollywood-based actress handles it well, even when he sits down uninvited at our table; she’s gracious and kind, asking if they’ve met. They haven’t. The obvious is left unsaid: he probably recognizes her from Twilight, the wildly popular vampire film franchise in which Lefevre played evil Victoria in the first two of three movies. Welcome to the downside of celebrity in its most benign form, a small intrusion into everyday life.
Lefevre, 31, was in town this summer for Eyes Wide Open, the extravagant masked ball to benefit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She agreed to play model for us and talk about fame, film and fashion.”

Twilight Crew Member Passes Away

Our friend, casting director Lana Veenker, just let us know some sad news. A member of the Twilight crew, Bradford Turner (props assistant) passed away unexpectedly. Some of you who visited the Twilight set in Portland may have encountered Brad who was always friendly towards the fans. Part of his obituary on Oregon Live reads:
“(He)pursued his love of film at Portland Community College and University of Oregon. He loved fishing, hunting, skiing, and especially his time at the family home in Gearhart. His motion picture work in Portland eventually took him to Hollywood, where he worked on many film and TV projects as a property master. After 10 years in Hollywood, he returned to Portland and worked on projects that included “Twilight,” “Extraordinary Measures,” and “Leverage.” His spirit touched the lives of many friends and fellow workers in the industry.”
It was the work of many people like Brad, working on a small, independent film that no one in Hollywood cared about or took seriously that helped to launch the twilight films to where they are today. For our part, his work was appreciated.
Lana also told us that “the family has suggested donations in his name to the Pixie Project. This organization helps the homeless who have dogs care for them and find housing that will accept dogs. It helps dogs and cats get vaccines, spaying and neutering, and runs an animal adoption service and day care.”

Hi All,
Sorry for the lack of news posting yesterday and the slow start today. We’ll be posting shortly. Sometimes real life gets in the way and family and our day jobs take precedence.
If I could just take a moment to ask if you are so inclined to keep Lori’s (Alphie’s) mom in your thoughts and prayers. Those of you who have won giveaways, it’s Lori’s mom who picks the random winner. She gets a real kick out of doing that. In fact, Lori’s mom gets a real charge out the the whole Twilight hoopla. When she went to her first convention, she just loved looking at all the dedicated fans and enjoyed interacting with them. Unfortunately, Lori’s mom hasn’t been doing too well over the last few weeks. Lori has no idea that I’m writing this and she’s probably going to kill me later, but if you could leave a pick me up message for Lori’s mom and Lori in the comments it would mean a lot.
