2010 VMA’s and Twilight

ashleyGreene-red carpetGiven that they haven’t actually filmed any part of Breaking Dawn yet, and the cast members haven’t seen a script it’s probably not that surprising that there isn’t a big Twilight roll out at this year’s VMA’s. It’s not like there is an exclusive clip or anything to debut. The most anyone could talk about wardrobe possibilities. Peter Facinelli tweeted the other day that he was left feeling a little chafed having tried on so many items. (Alas, he isn’t advertising for any assistance to rub lotion on the sore spots.)

Despite some reports that the VMA’s would be entirely Twilight free, MTV has just listed Ashley Greene among the presenters. No word on what specifically she’s presenting, but she’ll be there. You never know who might pop up in the audience last minute; however, both Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart would be doubtful since they are currently filming other projects.

How To Do a Convention on a Budget

We first published the below advice about nine months ago. we thought we’d put out a re-do with two Twilight Conventions happening this weekend: one in Salt Lake City and one in Chicago. There is also a special promotion going on in Salt Lake where day passes are down to $10.00.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve had a bunch of people write in and ask, “Is it possible to do a convention on a budget?” The answer is yes. We’ll show you how below. You can always upgrade (or for that matter downgrade) from our suggestion below. For the sake of our example, we are using the Creation Entertainment Official Twilight Convention, but most other convention companies have very similar plans, just read the fine print.

So figuring that a trip to the movies costs roughly $10.00 for the ticket and another $5.00 or so for your popcorn and soda combo. There is actually a way to get a day’s entertainment for about $10.00 more than your standard trip to the movies.

If you go to the convention on a Saturday or Sunday on a general admission day pass, you usually end up seeing three stars minimum do a Q & A, you get a Lexicon panel (sorry shameless self promotion), a Hillywood panel, chance to win trivia/costume contest prizes, and the ability to take as many pictures as you want of the celebrities onstage with your own camera, and you have access to the vendor room where you can drop more cash if you so choose. All of this will run you $25.00, roughly $10.00 more than a trip to the movies.

Now let’s say you’re still on a budget but you want to upgrade a little. You can get an autograph with one of the actors in say your already purchased Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse Companion book so add $25. That brings you to $50.00 total.

Maybe you’re not into autographs, but you want a professional photo with you and an actor. That’s $40 to bring your total to $65.

Now let’s say you don’t care about professional photo ops or autographs, you just want to be able to take your own pictures and hear the actors talk, and you have all weekend. You can get the general admission weekend pass for $69. So you’ll get everything we described in our third paragraph plus more actors, panels, and trivia. And if you are dying for an autograph from your favorite actor, it brings you to $84.00.

So, there you have a couple of options all under $100 dollars, which granted is not cheap, but it does hopefully provide info to the folks asking. Like we said you can always upgrade from there if you want more like dances, personal meet and greets, preferential seating, etc.

Now let’s say you are faced with the problem of wanting to go, but not having a babysitter. Kids 6 and under are free with their parents. Conversation is generally a PG-13 level-nothing too shocking. You best know your kids, use your judgment.

Besides Creation Entertainment, HUB Productions, Twilight FanTrips, Eternal Twilight, Twilight fan Cruise, etc. all have events. Google them and check out what’s coming up in your area.

Just For Fun: What Twilight Spin-Off/Sequel Would You Want?

The rumors of a Bree Tanner movie in the works proved to be false; however, there’s lots of material and possibilities in the Twilight universe.

MTV has a poll up talking about some of those possibilities as far as movies go. Here’s what they came up with:

“Midnight Sun.” Even if it’s just as encouragement for Stephenie Meyer to finish the book.

“The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.” Bree deserves to have her story told!

The Volturi. Even after the events of “Breaking Dawn,” there’s probably more drama to tell.

Renesmee and Jacob. We want to see them have a romance in a non-creepy way.

Carlisle Cullen. His early days as a vampire could easily have their own film trilogy.

So which one would you like to see as a movie or as a book? Let us know in the comments.

Also vote over on MTV and see where you stand compared to other fans.

Eclipse to Be Released in Theatres

eclipsebill

Just in time to celebrate Bella’s Birthday on September 13th, Summit Entertainment is re-releasing Eclipse in theaters. Perhaps re-releasing isn’t quite the word since you can still find it in theaters now if you scrounge around and its box office run hasn’t officially closed (and likely won’t until October/November). Here’s what Summit Entertainment put out on their Twitter:

“In celebration of Bella’s birthday, ECLIPSE will be re-released in theatres nationwide this Friday!”

Now given that they will put the movie back into wider distribution, and that the current movie choices are generally considered by most movie blogs as lackluster at best, Eclipse should clean up this weekend.  We’d be stunned if by the time exact figures are released on Monday, Eclipse hasn’t reached the $300,000,000 mark. This will be the first time a predominantly women’s drive movie has reached that mark since Titanic hit it over a decade ago.

So, will one more visit to see Eclipse in theaters this weekend be on your agenda?

Robert Pattinson Wows Fans in Lubbock, Texas

Robert Pattinson and some of his friends took a bit of a road trip. they were recognized when they made a pit-stop in a local bar in Lubbock, Texas. The local Fox affiliate has the story.

According to the FOX coverage:

“Brittni Vivion, a waitress at Crickets said Pattinson went unnoticed for almost four hours before the realization set in.

“He came in around 5 o’clock at our happy hour shift. Nobody really noticed that it was Robert Pattinson until about 9 o’clock and finally a couple of bartenders and waitstaff asked him and then he kind of denied it at first and then eventually he fessed up and said that it was him. And so the word got out and about 20 minutes later we had a rush of girls come in. They were just flaunting themselves over him. We finally had to shut the bar down and not let anybody else in cause it was just crazy, said Vivion.”

Pattinson left the bar at closing time through a back exit. Bystander Marissa Mason described the scence (sic)as a chaotic.”

See more on Fox Lubbock.

The local newspaper the Daily Toreador has similar coverage, including how word got out after Rob had been there for nearly 4 hours unnoticed. This time it was Facebook that was the culprit, not Twitter.

Via TwiFans

What’s interesting in all of this is that Lubbock, Texas is one heck of a drive from Los Angles. It makes you wonder how many more places they stopped in between and went unnoticed. Looks like Rob still has a chance at being incognito, especially since he managed 4 hours in a bar without being recognized.

Visit the Set of Breaking Dawn…Legally!

Marc Malken over at E! broke the story on this one.

“Picture this: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and YOU hanging on the set of Breaking Dawn.

Sounds far-fetched, yes? Well, maybe not…

A set visit to Breaking Dawn is up for auction in eBay starting today at 4 p.m. PST. Proceeds benefit Stand Up to Cancer, the organization that works to speed up the research and approval of cancer treatments.”

See more at E!

With a little help from our friends at RPattzNews we found the auction. Just click here.

You may remember the PSA for Stand Up To Cancer that featured Dakota Fanning (see below). In a later interview with ET, Dakota talked about how how cancer has affected her life because both her father’s parents died of cancer.

Robert Pattinson on Entourage?

RobMoviefoneSpreadit TV posted the below description of an upcoming episode of Entourage. They seem to be the only site with this information. It’s not reflected on any other source like TV Guide that typically gets the heads up on show content. So, we’re not really sure what to make of this. Possibly they accidentally released a press release early?  The HBO official site for Entourage has nothing on this.

“Mrs. Ari is still fuming over Ari’s angry meltdown the night before, Ari tries desperately to keep her surprise party on track. The guys attempt to stage an intervention for Vince, who has gone off the deep end. Turtle scrambles to find investors to save the tequila business. Eric receives an unexpected request from Terrance McQuewick, which leads him to consider Scott’s business proposal. Robert Pattinson guest stars as Ari’s most difficult client ever.”

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, Wikipedia has a pretty good summary:

“Entourage is an American comedy-drama television series that premiered on HBO on July 18, 2004. The series was created and is largely written by Doug Ellin and chronicles the acting career of Vincent Chase, a young A-list movie star, and his childhood friends from Queens, New York City, as they navigate the unfamiliar terrain of Hollywood, California.

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson serve as the show’s executive producers, and its premise is loosely based on Wahlberg’s experiences as an up-and-coming film star. The series deals with themes of male friendship and modern-day situations in real-life Hollywood. The show is famously known for its array of guest stars, usually featuring at least two celebrities per episode. It is also heavily credited on the ability of its leading actors to form the male bond of friendship, which is a leading theme on the show. For this reason, the main actors chosen had to be of New York origin in order to bring the utmost authenticity to the bonds formed among the characters.

On August 7, 2010 HBO announced that Entourage would return in the Summer of 2011 for a shortened season, which will be the show’s last. Although the number of episodes was not officially disclosed, the final season will likely contain six episodes. A film is also planned after the series ends.”

The show is highly critically acclaimed winning and nominated for multiple Golden Globes and Emmy Awards each year. If they were to get Robert Pattinson it would be quite a huge thing for both Rob and the show. Big names, such as James Cameron have become the hallmark of Entourage.

Ty to Karen for the heads up.

In the time it took me to write the article, Gossip Cop just debunked the entire story.

Bree Tanner Movie?

Rumor broke yesterday of a possible Bree Tanner movie. Nothing like trying to verify a rumor on a major holiday weekend! We are trying to see if the story has any validity; however, if the property is in hot negotiation, Summit may not want to talk about it, so stand by, we’ll do the best we can on this one. Casting talk would be way premature on a project that doesn’t have a script, screen writer, or director; however, the other material may have some credibility.

The Australian site What’s Playing broke the news. They generally have a reliable track record and aren’t prone to gossip and unfounded rumor. So take that info for what it’s worth. Here’s part of what they had to say:

“Consider this nothing more than a rumour – if only because our source, though seemingly on the level and able to provide sufficient information to pass the BS detector, is a first-time scooper – but alas, it’s too good not to print, so we are, but with that disclaimer. And, quite frankly, there’s no real reason why this wouldn’t be true.

According to the tipster, who works in licensing, Stephenie Meyer’s book The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner – released in March – is headed to the big screen. Tanner, of course, is a character that popped up ever-so-briefly in this year’s The Twilight Saga : Eclipse.”

See more on What’s Playing.

Oddly enough, we asked Stephenie Meyer about the possibility of a Bree Tanner movie on the Eclipse Black Carpet. (No we had no inside info or agenda, it was just a curiosity question.) Stephenie, as you can see in the video, didn’t discount the idea or state that she was adverse to it. Producer Wyck Godfrey also stated at that time, that he and Stephenie had several irons in the fire. Maybe this was one of them? Check out the video and give us your opinion. What do you think about a Bree Movie?

UPDATE: We checked with Summit regarding the accuracy of the story. An official representative stated, “Everything found online about this topic is at this point pure speculation.

Tinsel Korey, Julia Jones, and Alex Meraz Grab Some Sugar in Las Vegas

Our friends over at the Quileute Wolfpack site (which by the way is an awesome site for anyone who is Team Jacob focused!) were in Las Vegas to cover an in-store appearance by Alex Meraz, Tinsel Korey, and Julia Jones.

Here’s part of the account:

“I had rushed to Planet Hollywood at a little past 2:00pm, thinking I was going to be really late for the Sugar Factory appearance, and it didn:t help very much that I had my 16-month old in tow. I found “Princess Parking” on the 4th floor and expertly unfolded the stroller. So there I was, rushing through the Miracle Mile Shopping area, pushing the stroller like a professional F-1 racer through the crowds. But when I got to the Sugar Factory at a little past 2:30pm, I discovered that there was still an awaiting crowd.

I leisurely got tothe back of the make-shift line, and as unsuspecting tourists walked by, they all asked the same question – “What’s this line for?” to which I answered, “Some of the actors from Twilight are here .”

Reactions varied from “OMG! I have to take pics!” to “Twilight? Meh” to “What’s Twilight?” (Seriously? Are you just visiting our planet?)”
