Twilight Tours Book Hits Washington State Summer Reading List

According to the Peninsula Daily News:

“Twilight Tours, a book about touring Forks and the West End inspired by the teen novel series, has been selected as part of the Washington state Summer Reads Program for this year.

Not to be outdone, Twilight itself is part of the Fall Summer Reads Program for the year.

Twilight Tours shows off the locations made famous by the saga of books set in Forks and LaPush.

Many of the photos in the book were taken by Forks Chamber of Commerce Office Manager Mike Gurling.

“I also assisted the author in reviewing the manuscript to ensure accuracy of content, and the Forks Chamber of Commerce is acknowledged for efforts in this publication,” Gurling said.

“This is the only book in the Summer Reads program that highlights the town of Forks and the Olympic Peninsula.

“The book has become a big seller to Twilight fans wherever books are sold, and it has been reviewed positively by a number of readers.”

The Lexicon staff first saw the book roughly a year ago. We have a brief mention in the book along with Twilight Moms and Twilight Source. It gives a full-color visual tour of the Forks, La Push and Olympic Peninsula area, and doesn’t just limit itself to Twilight coverage. It also provides background information on the Forks area. The descriptions are great since it was written by people who grew up in the Forks area. It’s currently retailing for roughly $15.00 on Amazon.com.

The other book we’ve seen with similar content is Twilight Territory by the editor of the Forks Forum, Chris Cook. It’s a great guide of the Forks area that shows how Twilight has affected the town and where the “hot spots” are. You can get it on Amazon for roughly $10.00.

So if you are looking for a coffee table book on the Forks area written by people in Forks, the way to go is Twilight Tours. If you want an actual area guide that would be helpful on a trip, go for Twilight Territory.

French Fans Get to Pick Breaking Dawn French Translation Titles

Apparently the French Twilight fans get to pick out what Breaking Dawn 1 & 2 will be called when the films hit French Cinemas.

The French fans recently had a similar opportunity to name the The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. They called it “The Call For Blood”. We guess it’s all down to translation and what works better culturally in different countries.

The movie will also open in France slightly ahead of the US release dates. According to the Google Translation of the press release of the French distributor, Breaking Dawn will open “You will find so Bella, Edward and Jacob in the cinemas of France from November 16, 2011 with the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and November 14, 2012 with the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 2.  !”

You can find the full translation here or you can read the original version in French on Twilight France. You get exact details how you (if you live in France) can participate in the process. Thanks to our friends at Twilight France for letting us know about this unique opportunity.

Julia Jones Meets Fans at Chicago Comic Con

The admins who run the Julia Jones fansites got to me Julia and to go to her Q & A at the Chicago Comic Con. Here is part of their report:

“Someone asked her if she had anything current or from the past that she was obsessive over like the Twi-Hards are over Twilight. She said the closest thingthat she really liked that came close to obsession was the musical ‘Rent’. She went to New York City one day and slept on 47th street to get front row seat tickets for the musical (I think she said she did this more than once too). She also auditioned for this musical a couple of times as well.

She reads works from the classics’ era, especially Ernest Hemingway. Her favorite actress from back in the day is Audrey Hepburn. She admires her strength, individuality, and especially her desire to not conform to society’s expectations.

If you didn’t know already, Julia has prior experience in modeling. She probably will not go back to doing that anytime soon because she didn’t like feeling objectified. When she was first making her way in Hollywood, she’d be led to projects where she had to look ‘hot and sexy’. She’s pretty certain that she was being led down the ‘sex symbol’ route, “So thank God for the character Leah Clearwater.”

Billy Burke to Return to Rizolli and Isles

According to EW:

“He made a quick — and sexy! — appearance in the series premiere of TNT’s new Rizzoli & Isles. Now Billy Burke (who, of course, plays Bella’s dad in the Twilight films) is back for more crime-fighting fun with series star Angie Harmon, and from the look of things, the sparks are definitely flying between Harmon’s hard-striving Det. Jane Rizzoli and Burke’s broody F.B.I. agent Gabriel Dean in the episode airing Aug. 30. But count on Rizzoli’s serial-killing nemesis, Hoyt, to ruin the mood.”

Pel got hooked on the series, which airs on TNT on Monday nights, after she saw the premiere with Billy Burke. You can get full episodes via the TNT official page. Billy Burke figures heavily in the first one.
