MTV Finds Out: Why Is Breaking Dawn a Repeat Hit at the Box Office?

MTV decided to try and figure why Breaking Dawn has such a buzz, with lots of fans (moreso than the last film) talking repeat viewings. By repeat viewings we don’t just mean two times, we mean like 4 plus. One of the people that they asked was the Lexicon’s Laura. It’s not often that we get taken by surprise around here, but you can see what Laura said to MTV. A massive shift in emails, Tweets, and blog comments spurred us to make the referenced poll.

“Twilight” expert Laura Byrne-Cristiano, who runs TwilightLexicon.com, said she’s noticed a lot of fans changing their opinions about “Breaking Dawn” the book now that the film version has opened.

“I’ve also noticed a real shift in opinion that caught me by surprise so much so that I ran a poll about it,” said Byrne-Cristiano said. “When the novel ‘Breaking Dawn’ came out, it was a love/hate thing. But from what I’ve seen, people have really started to change their minds about it, and have come to like it.

“The people who got into ‘Twilight’ after the movies came out seem to pick ‘Breaking Dawn’ as their favorite book by a landslide, which is something that never occurred to me in a million years because of all the backlash when it first came out.”

Apparently MTV is on to something, because the amount of sites linking to this poll is unlike anything we have ever seen. Like we said earlier, we don’t get totally blindsided around here too often. This one took us by surprise, Check out other fans and experts giving MTV their opinion here.

Did you participate in yesterday’s poll? Were you surprised at the results?

The Onion Spoofs Breaking Dawn

This marks the second time that the Onion has done a Twilight spoof. Both are seen below with the most recent spoof on top. Please be advised that the Onion is known for cutting edge, irreverent, dark humor, so if that is not your cup of tea you might want to pass it up.

Ashley Greene: battling CGI wolves is harder than it looks

Did you wonder if it was Ashley Greene or a stuntwoman during the wolf battle? Now we find out!

THR: Alice has to do some fighting and she’s very acrobatic. How much of your stunts and fighting scenes do you actually get to do?

Greene: I did almost all of my own stunts, which I loved. We worked with fantastic stunt trainers and I took to it quickly, in part because I did martial arts and dance growing up. The most challenging thing about Alice’s stunts is that she’s supposed to fight with an immense amount of agility and grace, like a dancer. Try moving like that while doing cartwheels in the air, on wires, over a mock wolf!

THR: Do you feel that the films could have included more of Alice’s backstory?

Greene: I would have loved to explore Alice’s backstory. But luckily, our fans know everything there is to know about our characters and their backstories — more than us in some cases! So, I have faith that they understand what shaped the character of Alice, and why she is the way she is, without having seen her backstory come to life on screen.

Ashley Greene Gives Advice to the Next Big Franchise Rising Stars: The Hunger Games

Considering that just about everyone involved in Twilight had no idea of the fan intensity and the craziness that was going to be their lives, they’ve actually done a pretty decent job of not totally going off the deep end. Ashely Greene offers some advice to the next group of young stars who are about to go through a similar media and fandom frenzy.

Ashley also has a new film coming out (actually it was shot in between Twilight and New Moon) along with Kellan Lutz called A Warrior’s Heart. Check out the trailer below and an interview with Kellan Lutz.

Kellan was attracted to the film because it’s not “just another sports movie.”

“It’s not cliché, where the kid wins the championship at the buzzer,” Kellan said in an on set interview. “It’s a coming-of-age story about a boy and his journey to become a man.”

It was also a first for Kellan, who got to take on the role of the project’s leading man.

“I’ve never been number one on a call sheet,” Kellan continued in the interview. “I’ve been 7…8…13…26…142…[but] in this project, I’m in every single scene. I’m never in my trailer, which I’m not used to!”
