Taylor Lautner the New Face of Bench in the Philippines

According to ASB&CBN News:

“Bench has followed in the footsteps of other local brands by hiring a Hollywood star to endorse its products.

According to The Philippine Star entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, Bench tapped American actor Taylor Lautner to become its newest endorser.

Lo’s source, however, did not say if Lautner, who rose to fame by playing Jacob Black in “The Twilight Saga”, would model its shirts, pants or underwear.”

It’s not unusual for American actors to do commercials in the Asian market, but not to do them in the USA. In the USA, a-list actors doing product promotion (other than voiceover work) has largely been frowned upon as taking a career step back. However in Asia it’s a whole other story. Some notable examples are Brad Pitt, Jodi Foster, and Christina Aguilera.

Hourglass by Myra McEntire

We here at the Lexicon would like to wish Myra McEntire a very happy book birthday on June 14th.  Myra has been an incredible supporter of the Lexicon for years and has helped at several of the movie events in Nashville.

I’ve had the chance to read Hourglass and trust me this book makes for an excellent summer read.  The writing is witty and snarky.  Emerson is one of the sassiest main characters I’ve ever met and she isn’t going to let anyone push her around.  Enter Michael, the boy who has the answers, well some of them, and a wicked smile.  The story is fast paced and filled with memorable characters. (just wait until you meet Kaleb)  Add in the timeslip factor and you have a truly unique story.

Myra is embarking on a brand new adventure as her book makes its way into the world. Please help Myra celebrate her big day by tweeting her (@MyraMcEntire) use the #Hourglass or leaving a comment below.  And what would a party be without presents?!?!?  We are giving away a SIGNED copy of Hourglass.  Leave a comment below to be entered for the chance to win.  The contest is open internationally and will close on June 19th at 11PM EST.

Synopsis

Since the age of fourteen, Emerson Cole has seen strange things – dead things – swooning Southern Belles, soldiers, and other eerie apparitions of the past. She’s tried everything to get rid of the visions: medication, counseling, asylums. Nothing’s worked.

So when Emerson’s well-meaning brother calls in yet another consultant from a mysterious organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to give it one last try.

Michael Weaver is no ordinary consultant. He’s barely older than she is; he listens like no one she’s ever met before; and he doesn’t make her feel the least bit crazy. As Emerson ventures deeper into the world of the Hourglass, she begins to learn the truth about her past, her future–and her very life.

Conan O’Brien Mentions Twilight During Dartmouth Commencement

Part of Conan’s speech is about “Life isn’t fair”. His Twilight mention sets up at around the 2:00 mark.

Elizabeth Reaser: Dramatic Reading of Twilight Fanfiction

Last month VH1 had Michael Sheen reading Twilight fanfic out loud. Looks like they are starting a trend and now they have Elizabeth Reaser doing the same. Beware Twilight cast doing press at VH1, this is probably going to be a regular gig.
TwiExaminer has the details on the exact piece being read here.

Collider: Catherine Hardwicke on the Twilight Legacy

Collider has an interview with Catherine Hardwicke to talk about the Red Riding Hood DVD release. The film also co-stars Billy Burke.

As a director, what does it mean to you that you already have this film legacy that includes launching one of the most successful film franchises of all time? Does that inspire you to continue to do work that makes an impact on people?

HARDWICKE: Yeah. As a director, you try to do things that are going to touch the human experience somehow, and emotions that mean something to people. You search for those projects and you hope to realize the potential in a project. We try and sometimes we succeed in a way that’s crazy, beyond our wildest dreams. You just never know what’s going to happen. So many factors are involved. Everybody puts their heart and soul into it. We put our heart and soul into every project. It’s our baby. You can’t really just think, “Oh, I want to make something that is going to appeal to every single person in the world.” You have to just try to make a movie that comes from your heart. For Twilight, I wasn’t thinking it was going to be a crazy success, or anything. It had been rejected by all the major studios. Nobody wanted to make it and they didn’t think it would make any money, but I read the book and I thought, “Wow, I want to capture that feeling of just being crazy in love. I wonder if I can do that in a film.” That was my challenge. I thought, “If I can make you feel what it’s like for that first super-passionate love, other people might like that too,” and, of course, they did.”

Vampire Hair Styling Tools On The Way

The first we heard about this was when MTV mentioned putting Twilight vampire inspired styling tools in the 2011 Movie Awards gift packets that every star left with.  We checked out the gift photo and didn’t see any Twilight branding, so we figured it was a lose connection at best. Well, it looks like we ere wrong, and it’s a whole lot bigger than that.

According to Gather:

“Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart both have great hair, especially with their edgy vampire styles in The Twilight Saga. Ever wonder how to achieve Bella’s relaxed waves or Edward’s mussed-up look? Well, enterprising brand PRO Beauty Tools has the answer.

The professional hair product line is capitalizing not only on the popularity of Pattinson and Stewart, but also the upcoming Breaking Dawn movie by releasing limited edition Twilight-inspired styling tools. But it’s only apropos, given PRO Beauty Tools was the brand used to style the cast on the set of Breaking Dawn.

According to Coco Perez, five different products will debut in October with images of the cast on the packages: a Kristen Stewart (Bella) styling iron, a Robert Pattinson (Edward) styling iron, an Ashley Greene (Alice) and Elizabeth Easer (Esme) styler, a Nikki Reed (Rosalie) hair-setter and a R-Patz and K-Stew ionic dryer.”

Peter Facinelli Talks Juggling Multiple Projects

Peter talked to the Boston Herald about his next segment in the  Nurse Jackie series:

“I’m really happy right now that people can take a look at two things I have going on simultaneously, and they’re 180 degrees away from each other,” he said. “Carlisle and Coop have one thing in common: They share the same occupation. I like when the characters are vastly different from each other because it excites me as an actor.”

The father of three is also writing and producing. His film “Accidentally in Love” starred Garth and aired earlier this year on the Hallmark Channel.

“As an actor, you’re really a cog in the wheel of a bigger machine, and you come and you do your part and you leave, and over 16 years I’ve realized you have very limited control,” he said. “I read scripts all the time, and a lot of them are being produced, and you’re like, ‘Why is this being made? I’ve seen this movie.’ Or, ‘This movie is not great. I don’t know why they are spending money on it.’ I started thinking about what kind of movies I would want to tell and then I started writing them.”

Dakota Fanning: The New Face of Mark Jacobs

According to Contact Music, Dakota Fanning will be the new face of the Lola perfume line:

“Marc Jacobs chose Dakota Fanning to be the face of his new Oh, Lola perfume because she is “seductive and sweet”.

The designer has been a big fan of the ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ actress for some time and considered her perfect as the face of the fragrance thanks to what he calls her “Lolita” qualities.

He said: “I’ve been a big fan of Dakota since the first time I saw her in a movie.

“When we were speaking about who to use in the Oh, Lola fragrance ads – I had recently seen The Runaways. Dakota was in it, and I knew she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet.”

New York Times Confirms Breaking Dawn at Comic Con

Wild surprise here we know, but the New York Times dropped this tidbit:

“Among smaller studios, Lionsgate, which won strong results last year for “The Expendables,” will be back; and Summit Entertainment will stage a panel for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1.”

See more on the New York Times.

The bigger question is which date will they be there? Our money is on Thursday because that is what they have done the last two times that they were there.
