Twilight Stars Pitching Projects Like Crazy in Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is THE film festival by which all others pale. It’s power brokers, see and be seen, splashy film debuts, early OSCAR buzz…you name it.

Well there are multiple projects being pitched in Cannes over the next two weeks or so that are in some way connected to Twilight actors and Stephenie Meyer. Cannes is where they hope to garner interest for financial backing, distribution and more.

So here goes the list which has been changing like crazy, it’s the most Twilight connected Cannes list I’ve seen in three years!

Peter Facinelli’s Loosies

Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene A Warrior’s Heart (filmed just post filming of Twilight before Twilight hit theaters)

Alex Meraz City of Gardens

Jackson Rathbone The Idiot (Jackson’s name was just attached to this film today!)

Michael Sheen Midnight in Paris (a Woody Allen film, and film debut)

Bryce Dallas Howard Restless (film debut)

Stephenie Meyer The Host

Twilight Convention Coming to Brazil in 2012

We just heard that Brazil is getting its own Twilight convention. Here’s what the organizers wrote in to tell us.

“My name is Natasha and I’m the president of Twilight Universe, an official Brazilian Fan Club (since 2008). We promote events for the Brazilian fans and for the first time we achieved one of our major dreams. We are organizing a Twilight Convention named “The Meadow” and Peter Facinelli is our first confirmed guest (you can check the official website here: http://www.themeadow.com.br – it can be translated to english) it is a dream coming true for all the fans here…”

So if you are in Brazil go check it out!

Andrew Niccol Reconfirmed as the Director of The Host

According to Deadline New York, Andrew Niccol is now back on board as the director of The Host. This is no longer the rumor of last week, it is confirmation with quotes from Inferno Entertainment, the group making the film:

“Andrew Niccol has been set as the director of The Host, directing his scripted adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer. The project, which is being shopped here at Cannes by Inferno Entertainment and producers Nick Wechsler and Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz, will star Saoirse Ronan.”

See more on Deadline New York.

You may remember that Andrew Niccol originally penned the script and was set to direct. Then due to various issues he dropped out and Susanna White was brought on board. However it’s now back to Andrew Niccol.

Inferno Entertainment, the group making the film, issued the following statement at the Cannes Film Festival:

“Having Andrew at the helm for us is incredibly invigorating as he truly shares Stephenie’s vision on this film,” said Kimberly Fox, Inferno’s President of International Sales. “We literally began sales this week and the response from the international community, and from domestic buyers, has been beyond our highest expectations. We expect to have every territory in the world sold out very shortly, and then it’s about getting to the exciting part of making the movie.”

The group is at Cannes to hopefully find a studio to back the project.

Nikki Reed Attends Amercian Idol Final Four

Ew was there in the audience and they have the full report:

“Paulie McD goes Hollywood As the crew set the stage for James Durbin’s opening number, Paul McDonald sauntered into the Idoldome, one hand clutching two tickets, the other the hand of actress Nikki Reed. The Twilight star was beaming with a practiced starlet grin; the former Idol troubadour looked like he was going to throw up at any given moment. The duo were led up to their seats a few rows back, and then swiftly led back down them and out of the studio once the audience peeps realized that it would likely be a good idea to place the season’s second most talked about couple up closer where the cameras would likely better capture their blinding smiles, photogenic affection, and possible vomit. After the first ad break, they returned to the Idoldome and were placed in the perfect spot, just off Randy’s shoulders. Not literally just off Randy’s shoulders, although now that’s the one image that is going to stay with me for the rest of the night: Little tiny Paulie McD trying in vain to see his famous girlfriend on the other side of Randy Jackson’s massive cranium.

Annnnyhoodle, for the rest of the night — save when Debbie the Stage Manager pulled Paul and fellow season 10 alum Casey Abrams up to the balcony to plug the Idol tour — Paul’s left arm never really left its perch atop Nikki’s left shoulder. When Paul wanted to applaud, he simply slapped his thigh with his right hand. He simply was never going to let go, and I can’t exactly say I blame him. It really is a good thing he got down off of Randy’s shoulders, huh?”

Another of Paul McDonald’s big fans is Peter Facinelli who hired Paul to be on the soundtrack of his movie Loosies.

Jamie Campbell-Bower Dishes Breaking Dawn at the National Film Awards

Last night Jamie Campbell Bower talked to Glamour UK  on the red carpet at the National Film Awards:

GLAMOUR.COM: Are we going to see more of you in the last two Twilight films?

JAMIE: You are, you are. You’re going to get to see just how evil and twisted the Volturi really are and we do some pretty awful things.

Q: Do you like being the bad guy?

JAMIE: Always. It’s always nice to be bad. You get to bring out the evil side which we all intrinsically have but suppress, occasionally.

Q: What’s it like working with Robert Pattinson?

Jamie: Terrible, the guy’s an idiot.

GLAMOUR.COM: And Kristen?

JAMIE: An idiot as well, they’re both awful. No, I love working with them, they’re both incredible actors and Kristen’s someone I’ve admired for ages since I first saw her in Panic Room I’ve thought she was wonderful and Rob is someone who mutual friends of mine now know as well, so it’s nice to be able to work with people that you can get along with.”

Driftwood: AKA Giagantic Tree At LaPush

One of the things we tell people all the time when they ask us about LaPush is the amount of driftwood that washes up and its size. For most of us, we probably think of driftwood as being at most a foot or two, something the size of a pruned tree branch. Well at LaPush it’s more like drift logs and a whole drift forest on the shoreline.

When we had the opportunity to talk to Chris Cook, the editor of The Forks Forum, back in summer 2009, he told us why the wood was so huge. It’s a two-part answer: 1) there is no break for the intense winter storms that come across the Pacific and 2) the trees in the area actually have fairly shallow roots. In the winter time people are frequently cut off from travel due to fallen tress across the roads.

The above photo shocked even us, we’ve never seen a tree that big washed up on LaPush before. Check out the details on Earth Science Picture of the Day. TY to Caffeinated42 on Twitter for the heads up.
