Hit Fix Interviews Kristen Stewart: On a year of giving birth and scuffling with dwarfs
Hit Fix had a chance to interview Kristen Stewart one-on-one at the Breaking Dawn press junket
But, if we’re talking about the final “Twilight Saga” movie we’re getting ahead of ourselves, because Stewart has quite the dramatic arc in “Breaking Dawn, Pt. 1.” As many moviegoers and “Twilight” fans know, Bella (Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) finally tie the knot in a moving ceremony. Before Bella becomes a vampire, a negotiation of her “living” after a showdown with the Volturi way back in “New Moon,” the new Mrs. Cullen shockingly becomes pregnant by her living dead husband. While even the Cullens are unsure what is growing quickly inside her, Bella stands strong wanting to deliver the (assumed) child. It’s a dramatic jump from the tentative and awkward teenager introduced in the first “Twilight” just three years ago. Stewart has arguably never been better as Bella, but she won’t take much credit for her performance. She insists much of it is because she’s also grown older and any other actress could have pulled off the character’s arc.
“I think that naturally would have happened with anyone playing the part. Even just the way it’s written,” Stewart says. “I’ve been asked a lot today if I think that this is finally when she became an adult. I don’t think just because you get married and you’re in adult situations that all of a sudden that makes you grown up. I think that she found herself awhile back and I think she just seemed crazy to everyone because she saw this light and was like, ‘Hey, listen, I know something we just need to fight for it. And now finally in this one it all clicks and makes sense. She was right. Everything she’s built, as precarious as it looks, she’ll do anything to keep it standing and it works and I think that’s just part of knowing yourself and knowing you want to be where you are.”

Melissa Rosenberg Live Blog Breaking Dawn Convention
Eaisest book to adapt to screen. She says none were easy but Eclispe was easiest and Breaking Dawn was the hardest
Cameo in wedding scenes was so much fun. She decided she was Renee’s college friend.
If she would change anything. Way back in Twilight there is this big Q&A on what it means to be a vamp in book and it got cut in movie script due to budget
She prefers adaptation rather than original writing
First three movies she was juggling Dexter and Twilight last film it was other projects wished she had no conflicts but it’s a luxury writers never get
Melissa Rosenberg had a lot of fun writing wedding toasts especially comedy moments for Anna Kendrick and Billy Burke
The most important thing in writing is to build emotion and then add in the text that gets you there. The emotional moments are the most important
On how much script changes after it goes to screen. LOts of revison with Stephenie before it goes to director. Then it’s set, but director hones emotion, sequence of shots, may make changes or things that are non verbal
What she is most proud of. She belives that she is the only woman to have written a franchise and hopes that it opens doors for others
Favorite upcoming work is some episodes of Dexter season 4 in particular the finale. she says Dexter would be a great Volturi member. And Edward and Dexter both fight inner demons
Loves writing for Billy Burke and Taylor Lautner. Loves their ability to express dry humor and passion
How do you make imprinting not creepy. Make it more spiritual not romantic. Also show it early on in moive with Wolfpack several ways. bill Condon really made it all work and asked for revison and she was like OMG you’re right. They simplified and it’s now a simple, pure, uncreepy version
Who has final say in script is studio, but actors and directors have input. On Twilight specifically it’s been collaborative especially with Stephenie. In most films it doesn’t work that way and she’s happy that Twilight was collaborative
It’s hard to realize that in a strong fandom that people will yell at her about Edward’s wardrobe or other things she has no control on she just reminds herself that if Stephenie is happy she has to be happy.
Her favorite author Alice Hoffman. Likes reading stories by other female authors
How many times has she read too many to count. Each time she rereads the book she is working on then does outline then goes back and rereads certain scenes
She works in her home office with her dog and green tea and sweats. She sets a schedule
She won’t write a novel. It’s a different skill set and craft she has respect for it but isn’t ready to do that now
She was there last day filming of wedding scene.

Tinsel gets asked what inspired her music she says “life” and Alex goes “me in my underwear” and Tinsel says see this is what it was like on set surrounded by wolfpack
Alex then gets asked “what inspires your artwork” and Tinsel gets even and says “You in your underwear”. Alex says traveling around everywhere to new places inspires him
On ending the saga: Tinsel it hasn’t hit her it’s over yet because of all the conventions and PR. Alex jokes “yeah I cried all the way to the bank” Tinsel then slaps him and goes douche bag

Alex thinks it’s weird how the paprazzi can take teh same photo every day. He told the paps where the Cullen hotel was one day to get them off the wolfpack trail and later he heard Ashley Greene on cell phone going “I don’t know how they found us!”
Charities that they support:
Tinsel works with DoSomething.org art education support program
Alex works with Chaske on Be the Shift on helping Native Americans
How they prep for scene:
Tinsel jokes Alex doesn’t help anyone
Tinsel enjoys teaching arts workshops in Native reservations. She’s done it with LaPush and Macaw tribes They also helped her to get into character
Go to dance moves:
They are asking for demonstrations.
Tinsel says Alex and Taylor used to have dance offs. She’s beggin alex to show off. He does a capoeira move.
Their favorite scene in part 1 is a beach scene. And Alex says Tinsel and Chaske were kissing all the time. Tinsel slaps him and says “You’re going to get us in trouble. You were not supposed to say anything.”
How does Alex feel about being role model to younger native people.
He finds it humbling. And He knows how important it is to lead by example and he want to live a positive life and just show by what he does.
Tinsel wanted to work with women not to be too concerned with body image. She like to lead with healthy seating but not to get super skinny.
When asked if he cheers his CGI wolf on Alex says actually I just look at the screen and say “hairball! Stop licking yourself”
Box Office Magazine: Bill Condon On Where His Breaking Dawn Vision Lies
When you started making this film, what was the learning curve?
The cast taught me so much. Kristen Stewart knows this character better than anybody in the world, and it’s so much made up of the Bella Swan of the book and Kristen Stewart and what she brings to it. That, for me, was just a lot of hanging out and talking before we started shooting. A lot of discussion, especially of the script. We took a few weeks where we just went through it page by page with all the actors. That completely helped me to get inside it.
What did you take from each of the past three films in studying them to figure out what you wanted your own voice to be?
The big thing I took was how different they are from each other. That was part of the appeal of getting involved because I feel that within the template of twilight, those are three very different directors who made three very different movies, each of which reflected their interests. That really appealed to me. I always saw Breaking Dawn – Part I as being kind of a bookend to the first movie. Everything that gets set up there gets resolved in the last. I think it has it’s own completely different style, but there are echoes of moments and musical references more to that movie than any of the others.
I think of the first one as having this youthfulness, the second as having this almost adult heartbreak, and the third as having this action and interest in vampire lore.
Absolutely.
Where do you fit in?
First of all, these two movies I made are each very different from the other, but I would sayBreaking Dawn I is a real immersion in romantic melodrama, but as a grown-up story. I feel like it’s Twilight Grows Up. The actor’s have adult concerns now. Take the vampires and the werewolves away and it’s about what the first year of marriage is like, or for Jacob, after you’ve lost, how do you grow out of this and become your own person. I have to say, the last act of this movie is a horror movie, too. It’s a flat-out horror movie. And that excited me because I have a background in that [with Candyman 2] and it’s something I wanted to explore again.
