Taylor Lautner Live Blog Breaking Dawn Part 1 Press Conference

Taylor on soundtrack music: It stresses him out when people ask what’s on his iPod. He shifts from techno to hip hop. He won’t answer with any specifics.

Being Jacob with more maturity was exciting. He becomes a man in the film. He has to make so many decisions and is torn between the two families. This is the most challenging to film. He couldn’t have done it without Bill Condon’s help.

Imprint scene tough. He asked Steph a million questions like, “What do you look like when you imprint?” He had to look at an X and the wall. There was no Renesmee to look at.

Reading the fourth book, he was like WOW wait and now he gets the kid. It took a second to get it. It’s not romantic imprinting. That was important to him. At this stage it is total friendship.

His mind doesn’t register complaints. As long as the fans are happy, he is happy.

He’s become close with Edi Gethegi and he’s still close with him.

Craziest fan encounter: so tough to choose one. Tattoo of his face and signature is always mind blowing.

He’s happy to take a little break now. The Gus Van Saant thing is very early stages and is very premature to say too much.

He loves Jacob and looks up to his good qualities especially loyalty and persistence

Is he worried about being typecast?  No. He won’t do something just to do it. It has to be a special project. In one sense, it’s a compliment to be typecast because then you have done your job so well that people believe you as that character.

Scene of wolf telepathy was hard to be so CGI letting voice over do it. They also used their mannerism into the CGI.

He never felt with Bill Condon that he had to argue to say, “Jacob wouldn’t do this.”  They would have discussions but it was never an argument. Sometimes Bill would make suggestions he hadn’t thought of and he respected them. It was a two way collaborative street.

Taylor related most to the desire to want something you can’t have and want it badly. He’s been there.

Last scene he filmed was the dance with Bella at the wedding. It was very emotional. It was a special moment and one for the memory box.

Kristen Stewart Breaking Dawn Press Conference Live Blog

Coming up shortly…they changed the order Taylor up first.

What was it like going from human, to pregnant, to vamp Bella in the same day?
It was so hard out of sequence. She had to stay focused. Doing it so quickly helped remind her how important and relevant every scene was it actually gave her energy.

She doesn’t think of the characters as icons, she thinks of them as people.

She doesn’t worry about being typecast. She is drawn to what is good and doesn’t specifically try to be different. She’s looking forward to taking some time off in future

On losing the weight: most was done digitally and not a severe diet. She went from emaciated to normal weight Bella several times a week.

For the wedding scene, she had so many things going through her head. She had to stop herself from analyzing it too much or she’d ruin it. She realized that standing back and appreciating the moment was important.

It’s hard to wrap her head around fans wanting advice from her. She’s glad that she has delivered something people think is of value.

The priest at the wedding couldn’t remember his lines.

Playing pregnant Bella did make her think about kids and fighting for what you want.

Bella lived 10 to 15 years of importance in a short time. It was tough.

She sees Bella as a cat in a corner ready to attack to fight for what she wants.

She loves Adele and has her on her iPod and choreographs marches in her life to it.

Part of Bella will always stick with her. So much of Bella is something people identify with. She never disagreed with Bella.

Robert Pattinson Breaking Dawn Press Conference Part 1

Rob on the journey of Edward and personally over the past four years:
In the broadest terms he’s ignored the vampire and age and saw him as a troubled teen who discovers how to be content with himself, which is what a lot of normal human guys go through. The key ingredient to his character is the 108 years of self loathing. It’s hard to play that and a love story at the same time. Ironically BD is Edward’s happiest movie.

Personal journey: it’s been like a very complicated maze while on a jet. It still hasn’t slowed down. He’s still tying to totally discover who he is. He has a stronger drive to act than ever.

Pato (sp) a 1970’s band is one the he’s listening to now and Katie Perry

As far as turning Kristen, the birth scene was the first time he read the film scene before reading the scene in the book, He was terrified, but it ended up being most incredible scene. There was lots of desperation to play. There was a surreality of being between a dummy’s legs chewing with cream cheese placenta coming at him as he is covered in strawberry jam and then hit with dummy baby with wig. It could have been very silly or very NC 17, but Bill Condon made it worked.

It doesn’t feel like it’s over yet to him.

Indie vs big film: He sees himself in the future doing what comes his way. Smaller productions are great but likes bigger ones too.

Getting back into music: He records stuff in private. Movies you can blame someone else if it’s bad. Music it is just you. Too scary of a proposition at this time.

How he feels about Grauman’s and being in LA from early days to now: He’s stunned. Back then, he was so unemployable. He feels he’s so happy to be on a wave. One of the hand prints he messed up. He accidentally stood on it (his own).

Kristen got annoyed with him when he said the groom is a prop. He says, “I’m right. Everyone the whole congreagation is looking at the bride and I’m in the same suit as any other guy.” He says he’d let a future wife plan a wedding

Cullen Family Live Blog: Peter, Jackson, Nikki, Liz, Breaking Dawn Part 1

What they have learned from characters:

Nikki: It’s okay if world doesn’t like you. You are not a reflection of who you play.
Liz: Patience
Peter and Jackson: Youth is great!

Peter was so happy to be able to be back in the sun again. He felt like the uni-bomber at his daughter’s soccer games.

Jackson is happy to give up contacts and wigs.

All: Next year it will be sadder. It hasn’t hit them yet it’s over.

Apparently Jackson and Ashley do a cool swing dance at the wedding. Jackson collaborated with a choreographer. It brought him back to his musical days. Jackson was nervous throwing Ashley in a dance move

Jackson: You need fan to spell fanatic. We love them

Nikki: Fame doesn’t mean success is what she’s learned. She’s learned to do good work. And to put life experience before career.

For Jackson it’s been working with so many diverse directors. He just formed his own production company. Feels like its been a master class to him

Nikki’s favorite scene with Taylor was cut: The Fido scene not in there. In the scene Taylor hits her over the head with the dog bowl. Taylor was fabulous, so committed. He’s great with his shirt on too.

Nikki worked with a rubber baby and a later a mechanical baby, she liked it when they worked with the real babies. She also loved being able to love something in the film and not be angry.

Peter and Liz as mom and dad feel Rob and Kristen have handled the fame well. They haven’t changed who they are. They have more people around them, but they are who they are still.

What was it like having Kristen as a vampire:

Liz–she got the painful contacts in red. They are the worst

Peter—Bill puts the word gentle in gentleman. It was the emotional journey and everything not just camera moves.

Peter has a Carlisle ring. Nikki hasn’t taken anything because she knows she’d get caught. Nikki says Kristen stole her sneakers from the first movie and gave them to her.

Liz–fan response is more important than critical reception.

Peter–the harshest critics are the fans. If the fans like it then we have done our job.

Stephenie Meyer, Melissa Rosenberg and Wyck Godfrey Breaking Dawn 1 News Conference Live Blog

Melissa and Wyck are up next.

Stephenie what has been your experience? There was some closure with final night of shooting. She’s not sure how she’ll fell when it really ends.

Stephenie wedding experience:
Emotional, she was somewhat prepared having been around with Kristen’s wedding dress. She was less nervous being with Melissa and Wyck

On Stephenie continuing the series:
She has pieces of various other things in computer but right now she is focused on other things. So who knows?

Working in Louisiana: Wyck great place to work money wise and production wise.

Steph prefers to do book to screen adaptations. She loves that process. She’s thought about going straight to screen but wants the book first for now.

Melissa always feels like a visitor in Steph’s universe. If Steph is happy, she is happy. Steph is a great collaborator.

Stephenie’s soundtrack is still the originals on her website, but she likes the songs that go with the movie

Steph on Kristen as a mother– It was so cool she’s so focused. She switched back and forth

Steph– I’m not saying breaking Dawn doesn’t get weird. It does. But I don’t think about sexual politics 100 years ago women could die giving birth wanted. I’m not saying people should find their life philosophy from me it’s never been about this.

MY question (Steph says “Hi Laura” and whole room looks at me): I ask her what are her favorite alternate POV scenes. Melissa says anything Volutiri. Stephenie says it all starts to blend but anything Michael Sheen.

The birth scene was emotional despite being covered in raspberry jelly. Rob’s performance was amazing according to Stephenie. Everyone on the sidelines cried.

Being on film sets have given Stephenie new experiences. She now has new experiences to write about.

Film in two parts:

Melissa and Stephenie felt too much would be left out in one. Wyck thought one would be better intially and then realzed it should be two

First viewing of film: Wyck, whew!

Steph: hoping was good and then got so caught up forgot to write notes.

Melissa was so happy with the script to screen transition. She wasn’t nervous; Bill nailed it.

Melissa was tired going into this but “got her mojo back” because of collaboration with Stephenie and the energy of Bill Condon. Initially she thought Bill Condon might want to write it.

At one point Melissa left her script and all production notes in a bathroom in Baton Rogue there was an all points search when they realized what happened. Melissa wanted to die in a nervous panic.

Melissa feels that colaborting on another work is great and she loves working with other writers rather than create from scratch

Bill Condon Breaking Dawn Live Blog Part 1 News Conference

Bill will be up in two minutes

What was biggest challenge coming into two movies in a series?

The books are so beloved by so many people, you need to be true to them and want it live up to cinematic expectations

How tough was birth scene?
We wanted to be true to it. As with many things, it was easier to tell it from Bella’s POV. Same as the wedding; you see and feel what she does

How much was he involved in music?

It starts from day one. It’s part of telling the story. Key music moment is when Bella falls in love with her baby when she realizes she’s pregnant.

On working with seasoned cast and Stephenie:

For first two weeks he just talked with KStew, Rob, Taylor and Steph about their opinions. Bill Condon put in a scene about Edward’s loathing himself as a monster after talking with Rob.

Stephenie Meyer was an incredible resource and HE JUST NAMED DROPPED Twilight Lexicon as a resource (breathe Laura Breathe).

Attending Columbia is when he decided to get into film making. Philosophy class especially expanded his horizons.

Fan frenzy in Brazil was his first fan experience. He was amazed how gracious Rob and Kristen are with literally constantly being trapped in or they would cause a riot.

Bill Condon is eager for fan reaction.

Bill says Rob and Kstew have great chemistry

Vancouver was great for exteriors. It took a long time to find the site with the scope and beauty they wanted for the Cullen House. He was stunned seeing the movie set reappear in Vancouver. It was weird.

Irina shows up at wedding and then storms off. They had to compensate here from book to novel differences. It’s more exciting to see her storm out than to only hear about past things she was upset about. Sometimes things have to change from book to movie or adapt when things left out previous movie.

Breaking Dawn is part melodrama. He embraced it and ran with it rather than fight it. It’s a classic Hollywood genre not appreciated enough.

Bill thinks of it as one movie even if shooting was weird with Bella being a vamp in the morning and dying in the afternoon.

Bill doesn’t know if Steph will continue the books. On set, the actors would bug her to write more.

To cut possibility of an R rating they cut the thrusting down….room laughs

My Question ( Bill Says “Hi Laura” …dies): What was it like to cast the Denali coven? Key was finding four actors with chemistry and with other worldly qualities. He feels like he achieved that. They each had a regalness to them.

Bill feels that the fans grow with Bella on her journey and will be able to handle this. The fans have grown up with Bella.

Was cast management an issue?
Sometimes they had 8 or 9 vamps in the room and that was an easy day because days with 27 vamps were tough.

Last day of shooting in Vancouver. It snowed in late April, and the last scene was the dance of Kristen and Taylor and Rob. Everyone stayed to watch and everyone was emotional.

KStew played a prank. After Bill yells cut she takes off running into the forest going after Jacob yelling, “Jacob I made a mistake come back.” The whole cast and crew died laughing

Live Blog of the Breaking Dawn Press Conference Booboo And Julia

The conference is due to start at 10:55 Pacific Time.

Panelist will be as follows:
Individuals: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Bill Condon
Cullens Together: minus Kellan Lutz who is filming another project
Wolfpack: Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart
Filmmakers: Wyck Godfrey and Meliaas Rosenberg

Up First Julia Jones and BooBoo Stewart

BooBoo Jokes I have the smaller mic, no fair.

Booboo was named Booboo as a nickname.

Julia says the advantage of being a female wolf is tough in the movie. It’s fun it’s a familial situation, but there aren’t advantages outside of that hard to be feminine with the pack. It’s hard to have guys listening to everything, no other girls to bond with.

Booboo jokes: but you get a cool Tattoo, and Julia says, “see that’s what I’m talking about cooler for a guy”

Booboo says Taylor has always been the same always a fun guy. Taylor is always hanging out on set and you never have to wait on him. He’s very professional

Julia says working with Taylor is a pleasure. He’s very collaborative. And Bill Condon was very open to their ideas. He’d say, “Play around I’ll be back in ten minutes,” and then they’d tweek together and do a scene.

What they have learned from their characters:

Booboo; don’t sweat the small stuff be easy going don’t judge people
Julia: You are responsible for the course of you life and your journey. If you are not happy you are responsible to change your life.

Julia calls herself a multi-ethnic person and is proud of the way native culture is displayed. She says Twilight has done much for the portrayal of Native Americans. The characters are multi-layered and it’s about their struggles. They just happen to be Native Americans. Julia vehemently disagrees with a reporter who says people are only interested in Natives who are wolves. Seriously, she put him in his place! Go Julia!

Booboo says he got not say in his wolf or it would be huge and fierce

My question: How hard was it to play a balance of hurt and anger?

Julia: it was so exhausting to be angry all the time mentally and emotionally. She found it so liberating when Leah realizes to let it go. It’s a life lesson for us all

They both credit their martial arts and dance training that added to their ability to focus and be disciplined. They both rely on natural food and not caffeine to keep energy up
