Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone in Rome for Premiere

The stars of the Twilight Saga are making their way to various spots around the world to cover multiple premiers for Breaking Dawn.  Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone were at the Rome Film Festival on Sunday.  The duo did a Q and A where they talked about meeting each other for the first time while on their way to the Twilight set.

“I remember the first time we met,” Jackson said.  “We were at the airport heading to the film’s set. I had my beloved guitar and the agent at check-in did not want me to carry it on the plane, but for me it was really important. Nikki was there and convinced them let me carry it aboard [the aircraft]. From day one, Nikki was on my side.”

Looking at Jackson during the tender and heartfelt moment, Nikki said, “You are wonderful,” to which Jackson replied, “You are a beautiful person.”

Bill Condon Calls Breaking Dawn “Twilight Grows Up”

In the second Bill Condon interview to hit the web today, the director talks to HitFix about how impressed he was with Kristen Stewart, the score and themes of the film, and the changes the characters all go through.  Condon compared Breaking Dawn to the other three films in the saga as the film where the characters grow up.

” Y’know, I keep calling this ‘Twilight grows up,’ but in a way it is. All of the characters take tremendous steps in this story and that’s part of what turned me on to the material, to collaborate with Kristen Stewart as she goes from being the Bella we know in the first three movies to being a bride, being someone who finally has sex, gets pregnant, gets sick, gives birth, dies, become a vampire, becomes a warrior?  Just think of that journey.  I guess for none of them it was just playing the same old thing.  Jacob becomes a man in this movie. He moves away from being the third leg in a triangle and breaks free of that and his background and his family and his pack and becomes his own person.  So, that was a journey all the actors were eager and open to collaborate on.”

Condon also gives us a hint as to the conforntation scene in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

“As anyone who has read the novel knows, we end up in a big set piece with maybe 27 or 30 vampires on one sided aided by a dozen or so wolves against 80 vampires on the other side in this big confrontation.  It’s mostly a discussion, but many dramatic beats within that.  And that was like staging a spectacle on a stage almost, because we shot that for a month and not even counting all the second unit stuff. The sense of spectacle and moving fluidly through that, I did feel like I was calling on my musical roots there.”

Kristen Stewart Says Breaking Dawn Was Re-Cut to Avoid “R” Rating

Glamour Magazine in the UK interviewed Kristen Stewart for the December Issue.   While we don’t have access to the full text, Glamour has teased us with bits of Kristen talking about the security surrounding the look of Bella’s wedding dress as well as the over all rating of the film.  Kristen had this to say about the original cut of the wedding night love scene:

“It was so weird, it didn’t even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, ‘Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!’

“It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They re-cut it.”

Bill Condon Talks About Characters and Franchise Films

Bill Condon did a phone in interview with Moviefone this weekend.  Time and again Condon has proven in interview how seriously he has taken this material and how driven he has been to get everything right for the fans.  This interview follows right along those lines.  Here are a few tid bits as a sample:

You mention the performers experimenting in the dailies. I think it would be fair to call you an actor’s director — the films you’ve directed have gotten stars Oscar nominations five times, and Jennifer Hudson won — but Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner grew up on these movies; they’re maybe set in their ways and what they think the characters are. How do you come in and direct them for this last run?

I did not find any of them set in their ways. It felt like they were eager to explore. Part of the advantage I had was that after a lot of anticipation in three movies, now a huge number of things happen. These characters change so dramatically. When you think of where Bella stars, which is where she’s been for all three movies, and by the end she’s this fierce warrior-hunter-maternal-goddess. All the steps that get her there — it’s a huge amount of change. The same for Jacob and Edward. They grow up more than anything.

Catherine Hardwicke [who directed ‘Twilight’] has a genius for getting inside the brain and is so in touch with what it’s like to be a teenage girl. I couldn’t imagine doing that first ‘Twilight.’ But I can imagine doing this one because it’s more adult concerns happening in this story.

Bella has that big transformation, of course, but Jacob has to go through a lot of heady emotional stuff as well. Taylor is the least experienced and youngest actor of the main trio — did you have to do any additional work with him to get him to where Jacob needed to go?

He is as serious an actor as anybody I’ve ever worked with. He worked really, really hard and wanted to get deeper inside the emotions of this character. Because, again, this character goes through things way beyond mooning over the girl he can’t have. He was up to it, and really, really serious. He didn’t walk through anything. Like any good actor it was a lot of talk, questions and trying things.
