Kellan Lutz Chats With The Advocate

Kellan Lutz talks with The Advocate about his career choices, his portrayals, and how he’s become something of an icon to both the heterosexual and homosexual communities, and how he’s perfectly OK with that with a live and let live attitude.

What about your shirtless photo shoots? It seems like you’d have more control over those.
Yeah, I have to be conscious of that too. I’ve done a lot of photo shoots lately for the press coming up with Immortals and Breaking Dawn, and every photographer wants to get the topless shot. We’ve really had to be choosy and not do that for every magazine. I’ve actually been trying to keep my clothes on more.

This wouldn’t be an issue if you just got really fat for a role.
Hey, I would love that. It would be so fun to lose weight or gain weight to play a role that’s so outside of me.

There are paparazzi shots of you and your Twilight costar Peter Facinelli holding hands, which showed a sense of humor about your public image.
Oh, it’s funny. Peter’s great to look up to. He’s like a father figure to me. He’s young, but he’s been in this industry for a long time, so it’s great to go to him for counsel. What do they call Peter and I — Pellan? Pellan for life!

Do you not worry about gay rumors?
I don’t Google myself, but I’ve heard that people think I’m gay. I’ve heard it all. See, I don’t really go after girls. Most of the girlfriends I’ve had have come after me. So it’s really funny when girls get offended because I don’t hit on them. They’ll transform their insecurity into, “Oh, that makes sense, because I heard you’re into guys and have a boyfriend.” I’m like, “Seriously? That’s your tactic to get me to like you?” There will always be rumors, but I know who I am.

AIM HIGH, which debuts on Cambio and Facebook today, is the story of a young man leading a double life — juggling his studies by day and serving as a government agent by night. This series chronicles the life of Nick Green (Jackson Rathbone), a junior who’s just starting a new school year as one of the country’s 64 highly trained teenage operatives. When he’s not handling international spies, Nick is dreaming of Amanda Miles (Aimee Teegarden), the most popular girl in school, who’s cool, intelligent and very alluring.  AIM HIGH is the first “social series” which allows Cambio and Facebook users to become part of the show through seamlessly integrating their Facebook profile information – including photos, text and friends – by simply opting into the application on the show’s Facebook page!

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution (WBDD) today announced “Aim High,” the first-ever “social series” from a Hollywood studio, has debuted on Cambio (www.cambio.com) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/aimhighseries).  Consumers can now become part of the show by seamlessly integrating their profile information – including photos, text and friends – by simply opting into the application on the show’s Facebook page or by registering on Cambio and linking to the account to Facebook.  The action comedy series “Aim High” is produced by Warner Premiere and Dolphin Entertainment, starring Jackson Rathbone (“Twilight”), Aimee Teegarden (“Friday Night Lights”), Johnny Pemberton (“21 Jump Street”), Rebecca Mader (“Lost”) and Greg Germann (“Ally McBeal”).

By choosing to watch “Aim High” in a personalized viewing mode through the show’s Facebook page or on Cambio, viewers are able to see themselves or their friends integrated into select scenes throughout the series – from their photo appearing on a student body election poster, to having their name seen as graffiti on the bathroom wall.  This video application not only allows consumers to have an immersive and engaging viewing experience, but also a social one where they can share comments, scenes and Tweets about their favorite moments from the show.

“‘Aim High’ is truly an innovative series as it allows the viewer to become part of the show,” said Thomas Gewecke, President of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.  “We’re already exploring ways to develop this technology further and offer additional immersive features.”

“Our goal when creating ‘Aim High’ was to bring the quality a viewer would expect from a film or broadcast TV show to the online space,” said McG, Producer of “Aim High.”    “’Aim High’ is really a giant step forward for entertainment and I’m excited to see how fans will react to the show.”

Who Wins in the Books to Movies Fan Website Market?

Hypable has an article up comparing what has become the latest trend in books to film, and that is creating an interactive fan website. They compare the sites that have recently sprung up around the Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hunger Games fandoms and explore the pro’s and con’s of each. They rate Twilight as the best for fans.

Most recently was Summit’s Twilight Time Capsule which allows fans to upload photos, video, and text from a particular time in Twilight history. You can then scroll through all the user-submitted content in an interactive interface. While it looks nice, there are some modifications that should be made so it’s easier to browse the content.

When the Time Capsule was released I was surprised to see a couple Potter fans say that Twilight Time Capsule was copying Pottermore. What? This argument is silly. The two sites don’t compare.

And frankly, Twilight Time Capsule is the best out of the three in terms of catering to the fandom. Time Capsule allows the fans to shape a website using their experiences in the fandom. It’s an extensive archive of moments from the rabid fans who are the reason Twilight exists in the first place.

See the entire rundown at Hypable.
