Team Jack Podcast

Jack Morrissey, Bill Condon’s partner, just recorded his inaugural podcast a the home of his good friends Kevin Smith(movie director/writer, podcaster, etc). As his co-caster, he had on Greg who has worked with Bill Condon on several projects.

During the podcast they ramble about on several topics from their backgrounds, to musing on life in Los Angeles, to recording the score in London. They aren’t sure where they are going with future shows and what information might be included in them, but they are having fun with it.

Click here to check out the Team Jack podcast and here to check out his guest appearance on Kevin Smith’s wife’s show earlier in the day. Warning: language and content on both shows is not always PG-13

8 Actors Who Auditioned for Twilight

MTV’s Next Movie has a piece featuring people who auditioned for Twilight and didn’t get the part they auditioned for. Some of them are more urban legend and myth (like Vanessa Hudgens) than reality, but it’s a fun mix.

“The “What If” game is an entertaining way to burn a few hours. What if you went to Vassar instead of Arizona State University? What if you never went to happy hour that night? What if the Portland Trailblazers had drafted Michael Jordan?

Cinema is one of the best, and most maddening, places to play the “What If” game. Only a few truly great roles float around Hollywood each year. A-list actors jockey against one another for these parts, and the up-and-comers battle it out in auditions. What if Denzel Washington had accepted the lead role in “Ray”? What if Francis Ford Coppola had cast Frank Sinatra as Vito Corleone in “The Godfather”? What if Ashton Kutcher had played Bruce Wayne in “Batman Begins”? The questions go on and on.

Auditions for “The Twilight Saga” drew every young actor with a half-decent agent. For this reason, there are plenty of “What If” scenarios with actors who have made names for themselves in other projects.”

Shiloh Fernandez Auditioned for: Edward Cullen
Background: According to “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, “I brought the four guys that I thought were the best and she [Kristen Stewart] had to make out with them or do four different scenes with them and at the end of those two days she said, ‘It’s gotta be Rob.'” Fernandez was one of those forgotten other three.
What If: Getting the role of Edward instead of Hardwicke’s consolation prize to him (Peter in “Red Riding Hood”) would have been astronomically better for Fernandez’s career. However, he doesn’t hold any grudges. When asked, “‘Twilight’ or “Harry Potter'”? He answered, “I have to support my director and say ‘Twilight.'” Although that was before he saw the box office of “Red Riding Hood.”

Andrea Gabriel Talks About Image in Her Blog

Andrea Gabriel who plays Kebi in the upcoming Breaking Dawn II has her own blog. She just updated it yesterday.

“Really gets me to thinking (surprising, huh? Coming from someone writing a blog)… I live in Los Angeles and I know it is so easy to swallow the cultural Kool Aid that we are ALWAYS supposed to look one way and NEVER supposed to age, as if aging is icky, that the subtle changes in our bodies are wrong, as if nature has to be stopped. It breaks my heart to see breathtakingly beautiful mature women walking around altering themselves compulsively, almost apologizing for their natural development into their next beautiful stage of life. We hear the phrase “young and beautiful” as if it were one and the same. True, beauty can be young, but it can also be many different ages. Since about the time I turned twenty-one it seemed I was aware that accumulating years was something to fear and that I should enjoy my youth “the bloom was still on the rose.“ True, every one should enjoy their youth, but isn’t it hard when people are telling you it’s all down hill from here?”

Guest List for Official Twilight Convention in LA

Creation Entertainment has announced their guest list for the Official Twilight Convention that will take place in Los Angeles Nov. 4-6, 2011. Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner are scheduled to appear Saturday as well as all the Cullens minus Kellan Lutz.  We assume this is due to Kellan’s filming schedule which has him out of the country.  Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart, whose roles will be bigger in Breaking Dawn as part of Jacob’s pack, are also announced.  This will be the only guaranteed ticketed opportunity fans will have to see all of these celebrities in one place.

Gary Berman, Co-CEO of Creation Entertainment, had this to say, “This is a great day for Twilight fans!  When you think about it, what other property has delivered for their fans the way that Summit Entertainment has.  In the 40 years that I’ve been doing this sort of business, I’ve never seen a company provide this kind of an opportunity for fans to get this up close and personal with the stars.”  He also said, “We want to top what we did last year.  It was so electric in the room when we had Rob, Kristen, and Taylor on stage.  We hope to really create some special memories this year.  Plus, since the convention takes place just before the movie releases, it gives fans such a unique opportunity to see their favorite celebrities and then go see the film.”  Ever aware of the fan base, Burman concluded by saying, “This convention has become a social gathering for the fans where you sit in a room with thousands of other people who share your passion for this franchise.  What makes this so special is that you can get the face-to-face interaction with other fans that you can’t get from on-line communities and social media.”

Tickets are on sale at Creation’s Website.  We assume they will go very, very quickly!

Hugh Jackman Explains the Karaoke in Japan Robert Pattinson Connection

Remember back in February 2009, when Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart went to Japan to promote the original Twilight? Well at the time there was this rumor that they met up with Hugh Jackman who was in town at the same time promoting his film Australia.

First part of the story via TwiExaminer

Now personally, for all you Rob and Kristen fans out there. I always though the trip was far more memorable for this Q & A, especially since the couple was only an onscreen couple at the time. The key is the 3:35 mark or so when Kristen gets asked how was it kissing Robert Pattinson/ She’s got a great answer and Rob’s face is priceless.

Julia Jones in Boston Common Photo Shoot and Article

Boston area native Julia Jones just did a stunning photo shoot for Boston Common magazine.

The Jamaica Plain native has had plenty of time to soak up masculine style while shooting Eclipse and the hotly anticipated The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, the first part of which releases November 18. She plays Leah Clearwater, the lone female in the Quileute’s wolf pack. “I have spent so much time with boys during the filming!” she says. “During Eclipse, I hardly ever saw the vampire cast, where there are more women. Breaking Dawn was a slightly different experience for me, though. Jacob, Leah and her brother spend a lot more time with the vampires, so I’ve gotten to know that part of the cast much better.”

The collaboration inherent in acting is one of the things Jones loves about the profession. Like her days on her high school ski team, she says, it’s about the individual’s performance enhancing the whole team. “It pushes your game to be around great acting,” she says. “I always want to be in the level above me.”
