Ashley Greene, Anna Kendrick Named as Spotlight Award Honorees

Ashley Greene and Anna Kendrick are two of artists that have been named as honorees for the 2011 Spotlight Awards hosted by the The Creative Coalition.   The Spotlight Initiative was created in 2008 to support independent films with messages that make a positive difference in the world and celebrate the art and craft of filmmaking for their social relevance.  Ashley gained attention for her work in the film “Butter” about an adopted girl who discovers her talent for butter carving and competes against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest.  Anna’s work in 50/50, a film about a 27 year old man’s battle to beat cancer, is what caught the attention of the Creative Coalition.  The awards will be given out at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 10.

Cam Gigandet Still Gets Recognized From Twilight

Next Movie interviewed Cam Gigandet about his movie Priest heading to DVD. This is what he had to say about the Twilight Saga’s impact on his career:

In the final analysis, do you get more attention from fans for killing Marissa Cooper or breaking Bella’s leg?
[Laughs] I’m going to have to go with the “Twilight” fans because… they are really never-ending. I played paintball this past weekend with my dad — the whole day, people would come up and say “Oh, you’re the guy from –” and if it was a girl, without fail, the girl  would bring up ‘Twilight.”  They used to bring up “The O.C.” but not so much anymore.

The guys who came up to me this past weekend — it was always “Never Back Down.” Which is interesting.

Thankfully, “Twilight” set me up for a really long time. Everything that has such success and a fan following makes my job easier. It’ll always help me, for the rest of my career.

At Comic-Con people camped our for two days to be at the panel for ‘Twilight’. Has the level of intense fandom had an effect on you and your career?

Tinsel Korey: Obviously it opens doors, in a way, having something big like that, absolutely. I don’t know if the level of work has gone further. So it definitely gave it a little bit of a bump, but I was already going in that direction anyways and so it just sort of kept that steady pace of work for me. [Read more…]

EW Breaking Dawn Cover Eye Color Mystery Solved

When the Entertainment Weekly cover hit with Edward and Bella in the water, sharp-eyed readers noticed that Robert Pattinson’s eyes were not golden and Kristen Stewart’s were not brown. We figured since there was so much water involved in the scene wearing contacts wasn’t possible and that they’d fix it digitally in the final touches on the film (much in the same way Kristen Stewart couldn’t wear contacts in the New Moon cliff diving scene.)

Well it turns out there is another answer. Bill Condon’s partner, Jack Morrissey responded to fan inquiry and here is the answer. According to Bill Condon, the picture in EW is a rehearsal shot. They had the actual contacts in when the cameras actually rolled and things like that are also double checked in post production.

So no worries folks, the eye-color is correct in the film.
