Noel Fisher Blogs About Twilight and the MTV Movie Awards

Noel Fisher, who plays Stefan in Breaking Dawn, just updated his blog to talk about his experience at the MTV Movie Awards that happened back in June. Towards the end he talks about Erik Odom introducing him to Twilight fansite owners and then a conversation with one person about watching the actors’careers grow and change. The one person was Laura (pel) who was desperately trying to keep her fangirl squee under control because she’s been a fan of Noel’s for awhile after seeing him on Law and Order SVU as Dale Stuckey

“It’s a cliché, but one of the most wonderful things about acting is that it is NEVER the same twice. Every character is different, every location is different, every crew, cast and experience is different. Twilight is no exception. It is by far the most popular and recognizable project I have been a part of. But the really amazing thing about the Twilight universe is what a community it is. Never have I seen a clearer example of this than the MTV Movie Awards.

First, I want to say that being invited to a show you have seen more times than you can remember growing up is pretty exciting and a bit of a trip. But when I arrived I saw that my childhood imagination had NOT exaggerated the size of this event! The red carpet alone must have been 400 ft long. So long in fact, that you couldn’t see from one end of it to the other. It just kept going until it wrapped around a corner and out of sight!”

Butterfinger, Rob Lowe, Comic Con, and Twilight…Yep There’s a Connection!

According to a press release Twilight fans at Comic Con and can be part of a spoof under the direction of Rob Lowe. For those of you under 40, Rob Lowe the the Robert Pattinson of the 1980’s…not that I ever have a poster of him on my wall, or saw St. Elmo’s Fire 10 times or anything.

“Actor, producer and New York Times best-selling author Rob Lowe will bring the production of comedy-horror flick BUTTERFINGER® the 13th straight to fans, filming a live crowd-sourced scene in San Diego during the evening twilight hours on Friday, July 22. Butterfinger announced today that convention attendees will have a rare opportunity to see their favorite Rob, dubbed the modern master of psychological terror, behind the camera and participate in movie-making magic.

There’s so much excitement around Rob appearing at the world’s largest comic book convention of its kind this year that we couldn’t resist having him film a scene of ‘Butterfinger the 13th’ with the fans at twilight,” said Butterfinger spokesperson Tricia Bowles, Nestlé USA Confections & Snacks. “This is the perfect place for Rob to present his comedy-horror directorial debut with Butterfinger.”

“Butterfinger the 13th’ is an exploration of paranoia and fear well beyond werewolves and vampires,” added Lowe. “Don’t look here for Team Rob or Team Taylor – this movie will leave Team Butterfinger screaming for more.”

On Friday, July 22, prior to filming during twilight, Lowe will appear at the convention’s Sony booth #4229, hosted by the film’s digital media partners FEARnet and Crackle of Sony Pictures Television. There, for a limited time, Lowe will sign autographs and distribute special-dition movie posters of “Butterfinger the 13th.”

Inspired by Butterfinger’s “Nobody’s Gonna Lay A Finger” tagline, Lowe is directing the first-ever film by one of America’s iconic candy brands. “Butterfinger the 13th” aims to take its audience on a perilous journey with the film’s hero, whose paranoia leads to the belief that someone wants to lay a finger… in more ways than one.

The film’s teaser trailer warns fans that “You Can’t Scream With Your Mouth Full.” For more on “Butterfinger the 13th,” the director’s online video blog dubbed “The Lowe Down” may be viewed at Facebook.com/Butterfinger. Each week, Butterfinger’s Facebook page will feature new information about the comedy-horror currently in production, with exclusive online content and behind-the-scenes video episodes and images featuring Rob Lowe released on the 13th of each month.”

Comic Con PR Stunt: Swap Twilight for 30 Days of Night

According to Digital Spy:

“Twilight fans will be offered copies of 30 Days of Night by IDW Publishing at San Diego Comic-Con.

Copies of Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novels and the graphic novel adaptations can be traded for a volume from IDW’s 30 Days of Night series at the publisher’s booth under its ‘Sparkles for Blood’ promotion.

“Real horror fans have watched vampires systematically turned into wimpy fodder for years now. It’s time to fight back,” said 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles.

“I’m happy to be working with IDW on the ‘Sparkles for Blood’ event. Hopefully, working together we can put an end to this nightmare.”

Editorial note: Apparently someone in their marketing division fails to realize that Twilight fans also like Doctor Who, Star Trek, True Blood and several other of their products. They had an amazing opportunity to reach out to a franchise, especially since David Slade directed the 2007  movie 30 Days of Night. But I guess it’s easier to insult us with the same-old-same-old that we’ve all heard before. I mean could they at least be original?

I may stop by the booth and let them know what I won’t be buying. They could have had an opportunity, to get me to their products, now they are just going to lose money. Seriously, you can promote a new division without insulting a new consumer market and sounding like a 3th grade boy kicking the girls with cooties out of the tree house.  If you feel similarly, this is where you can contact them shoot them an email at [email protected]

Movies.Com: Comic Con History and Advice

Check out Laura’s latest Movies.com column.

“Get out those folding chairs, clean out that cooler, and bring plenty of sunscreen. After a year’s hiatus, The Twilight Saga will be back at Comic-Con. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 panel will be in the 6,500-seat Hall H at 11:15am a week from today on July 21st. This means fans will start camping out the night before in the plaza that abuts Hall H.

So what exactly is in store for fans this year? So far, Summit Entertainment is pretty tight-lipped, but going on past experience, several things are likely. The top items to look for are footage, a fan event, and the trio, A.K.A Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart.

When it comes to footage, director Bill Condon has some pretty big shoes to fill. Two years ago Chris Wietz, the director of The Twilight Saga: New Moon,  wowed the audience with two clips. The first was the motorbike scene where Taylor Lautner revealed his eight-pack abs, and Kristen Stewart uttered the iconic line, “You’re sort of beautiful.”  The second scene was the race to Volterra in the Porsche featuring Bella running through streets packed with red-cloaked revelers as she tried to beat the clock to save Edward.”
