Solomon Trimble’s The Price to Have a Panel at Comic Con

The Price Film Trailer (2011) from The Price on Vimeo.

Solomon Trimble, who portrayed Sam in the first Twilight movie, has a project at Comic Con. According to their press release:

Los Angeles and NYC based filmmakers James St. Vincent & Zeke Pinheiro will be attending Comic-Con to promote the film alongside their cast which includes renowned indie filmmaker, Carlos Gallardo (“el Mariachi”), Solomon Trimble (“Twilight”) and Mali Elfman

Filmmakers James St. Vincent and Zeke Pinheiro will travel from NYC and Los Angeles for the screening of their short film, “The Price,” (official website) at the Comic-Con Convention & International Independent Film Festival on July 20-24th. They will be joined for the screening and panel by established actor and producer, Carlos Gallardo, whose film “el Mariachi” catapulted him and partner Robert Rodriguez into independent film acclaim when they won the Sundance Film Festival in 1993, and Mali Elfman, daughter of legendary composer Danny Elfman.

Set in an abrasive and economically devastated New York City, “The Price” tells the story of two outlaws and the bounty hunter who pursues them. Inspired by Italian Westerns of the 1960s, the film is a mash-up of “A Fistful Of Dollars” and “Mad Max” with a little “Escape From New York” to complete the highly stylized vision of this production.

“The Price” short was produced as both a stand-alone piece as well as a way to create awareness of the feature film version which is slated to begin principal photography Summer 2012 in New York City. Explains writer and co-director James St. Vincent, “I wanted to make a western. It was that simple. I wanted to make a 1960’s Italian style western with Zapatista overtones a la Sergio Corbucci. And I wanted it to be a complete story from beginning to end rather than just a chapter in the bigger story.”

Official festival selections since Spring 2011 include The Vail Film Festival, CineFest San Antonio, The Long Island Film Festival and The Los Angeles International New Wave Film Festival. Upcoming screenings include The Manhattan Film Festival and The AOF Festival in LA. In September the team will travel to Almeria, Spain as an Official Selection for the Almeria Western Film Festival which takes place amongst the still standing sets from many of the most well known Spaghetti Westerns such as “The Good, the Bad & the Ugly” and “A Fistful of Dollars”.

Asheville Artist Has Work Comissioned For Breaking Dawn

According to the Citizen-Times, Mitchell Lonas, a local artist, had his work selected for Breaking Dawn.

“Kathy Lonas had no idea what the nest she found on her farm would do for her son’s career. But it became the focal point of hundreds of works of art by Mitchell Lonas, a resident artist in Asheville.

Then, last November, the set director of the popular “Twilight” movie series found one of those nest paintings in Gallery Bienvenu in New Orleans.

The gallery called Mitchell Lonas on his birthday, Nov. 18, and told him that the set director of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” might want his nest painting for the movie’s set. And that the set director might want to commission him to make another one like it to make a pair.

A few months later, it was confirmed. Even though the 6-feet-by-4-feet paintings of robins’ nests would have to be shipped to the movie set in Canada, the set director “wasn’t interested in anything else.”

The paintings will probably float in front of a large-scale window across from the entryway to the Cullens’ house in the fourth and fifth “Twilight” movies, according to Mitchell, who is ecstatic about the whole string of events.”

Comic Con Camping Advice

When you want advice you go to the experts. It’s probably safe to say that Alison from Twifans has taken camping out for Twilight events to an art form. She has some very practical advice for old timers and newbies:

“1.  Hotel– You should have got this long ago but if you haven’t start looking in the surrounding areas like the harbor or Coronado.  Even if you have to stay 10-15 minutes away to get a good priced deal, it’s worth it.

2.  Line buddies are essential for a good experience in line. Line buddies can be the people in your group or friends you make on either side of you in line.  Line etiquette:  Make sure to let everyone around you know how many friends are in your group and if it’s more than just a few, people may not be happy.  Best bet is to all go at the same time.  Security will get very strict about adding additional friends to the line.

Being comfortable in line is different to everyone.  Some people bring a chair and survive with a chair forever and others want luxury hotel like digs.  Whether you want to pack the whole car or fly in with just the necessities, we have some suggestions and plans for how to build your outdoor line living room.”

Shannon Hale Reports on The First Day of Filming Austenland

Stephenie Meyer’s newly formed production company Fickle Fish Films is in the UK filming Shannon Hale’s novel Austenland. As producer, Stephenie is on set every day. Shannon just blogged about the first day:

“I got to meet crew, chat with the production designer, the line producer, the UPM, Stephenie, and other cool crew members. (This crew ROCKS!) I sat in a chair (it wasn’t mine, but I got to use it anyway), put on headphones, and watched characters I invented speak lines I wrote. I laughed out loud at one point at the way Keri delivered a line and will have to be very careful in the future or they’ll ban that unprofessional writer from the set! But it’ll be hard because it’s funny, and these actors are so great. Molly (Jane’s best friend) is played by the gorgeous and so funny Ayda Field. Oh you guys, I’m so excited! Can I freak out a little? Can I just get majorly giddy and excited and squeal and jump around? I mean, as long as they’re not filming a scene and I’m far from set. Because I’m a professional crew member and never make a peep.”

The photo above is from the first time Shannon and Stephenie met in person, which ironically was at an Austenland signing.

James Franco Dishes Dashed Twilight Hopes to Playboy

According to Access Hollywood. James Franco did really want to be in Breaking Dawn:

““I had my agent tell [director] Bill Condon that I’d’ be happy to do anything in ‘Breaking Dawn,’” the actor told Playboy’s August issue.

“But that was because it was supposed to be part of a multimedia project at Yale. I was working with a Yale undergraduate who had written an autobiographical play about putting on a theatrical production of ‘Twilight’ in which I was a character,” he continued. “So I was interested in ‘Twilight’ because I was going to be part of that play. I thought what a great connection it would be if I were also involved with the real ‘Twilight.’”
