Anna Kendrick on Hit Fix: Her Future Plans
Greg from Hit Fix manged to catch up with Anna Kendrick in Toronto(pictured left Credit: AP Photo/Evan Agostini) and asked her a couple of questions about Up in the Air and her future in the Twilight Saga movies.
“A year ago I spoke with Dev Patel right after “Slumdog Millionaire” had debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Brit’s first feature film, like many, Patel still couldn’t grasp the amazing road the eventual Best Picture-winning movie was going to take or the part he would play in it. At the time, having seen the journey of recent word-of-mouth contenders such as “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Juno,” I told him to savor as much of it as he could and enjoy the wild ride. The same scenario is about to engulf up and coming actress Anna Kendrick…
: OK, the ‘Twilight’ questions you knew were coming. Did you shoot ‘Air’ after ‘New Moon’
[Actually] I went to shoot ‘New Moon’ while I was still shooting ‘Up in the Air.’ I had to run back and forth.
Q: Was that hard?
It’s funny because the characters are so different and I was wrapped up in Natalie world, but Jessica, the character that I play in the series, is such a silly girl it was almost like a little escape to go and just play and just monologue about nothing. Basically, I would go up to Vancouver and shoot a scene where something was [already] written, but [director] Chris Weitz would tell me to keep talking because we had to do all of it in one take as a ‘walk and talk’ and have it feel the space. So, he’d just tell me to say random stuff and it was like stretching in the middle of doing a marathon.”

Anna Kendrick Hits Big In Toronto
Anna Kendrick is the buzz of the town up in Toronto along with her fellow castmates in Up in the Air. People are talking Oscar for the film, director, and cast.
During the press conference (photo left Photo Credit: AP Photo/Evan Agostini) George Clooney teased Anna with quips like, “”these people made this film work – except for her, Anna.” Anna, just smiled and took the good natured ribbing. it has to be surreal being affectionately teased by Clooney at a major film festival, especially a film that got so much buzz that Oprah and her entourage showed up to see it causing a distraction.
Perhaps Greg From Hit Fix sums it up best (Minor error, Anna was the second youngest to get a Tony nomination. Daisy Egan is the youngest.):
“Actually, any “Twilight” fan already knows Kendrick as Jessica from Forks High, but the 24-year-old didn’t arrive in Hollywood out of nowhere. She turned heads with her work in the indie “Rocket Science” a few years ago and also happens to be the youngest Tony Award nominee on record having been recognized for her work at only 12-years-old. Kendrick also has a prominent role in the upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” as the title hero’s sister Stacy. So, to the creative community, she’s not an unknown quantity. In “Air,” however, Kendrick shines as Natalie, an eager type-A manager whose miniscule real life experiences haven’t prepared her for her company’s primary profit center of laying off other people’s employees. To be completely honest, Kendrick could have phoned this role in and still gotten positive notices on the strength of the script alone, but like Carey Mulligan in “An Education,” she brings something more to her character that will have audiences talking about her as they exit the theater. Along with “Precious'” Mo’Nique, she’s one of the two supporting actress candidates to really watch out for this year…”
MTV later caught up with Anna on the red carpet at another event.
Twilight Cast Hits the Toronto Film Festival
The Toronto Film Festival opens today. The festival is the early buzzmaker for films with Oscar potential. Slumdog Millionaire walked away with the best film prize last year. This year who knows? In any case a number of Twilight actors have films at the festival and are going to be in attendance.
Michael Sheen: Is in The Damned United, and was cited as one of the top ten films to watch at the festival by USA Today. According to USA Today, “This sharply humorous fable of British soccer manager Brian Clough, a real-life specialist at propelling underdog teams to unexpected glory in the ’60s and ’70s, is not just another inspirational sports saga. It’s a cautionary folly of Shakespearean proportions as Clough (Michael Sheen of Frost/Nixon, oozing puddles of pride and over-confidence) takes over onetime rival Leeds and infamously runs the club into the ground in just 44 days. Timothy Spall works his charms as Clough’s less volatile coaching sidekick, while Jim Broadbent and Colm Meaney make blustery foils for the slick-haired Sheen.”
Xavier Samuel:Larry from ProNetworks first broke the story that Xavier wold be at the festival in the film The Loved ones. Larry writes, “So I’m especially thrilled to pass on the news that the Toronto Film Festival has confirmed that Xavier will be attending and I’ll be there to report on the festivities for the International premiere of The Loved Ones. Lovers of genre films generally attend every screening in the Midnight Madness section so this one is sure to sell out quickly. In this debut feature from Aussie director Sean Byrne, a troubled teen’s prom dreams are shattered by a series of painful events that take place under the mirrored disco ball, involving syringes, nails, power drills, and a secret admirer.”
Anna Kendrick: Anna is appearing with George Clooney (George has three films at the festival) in Up in the Air. We talked a bit about that film yesterday and linked to Slash Film, who got a peak a couple of months back, review. Well, it seems that Slash Films isn’t the only outlet that was impressed. According to Thompson on Hollywood, Anna has potential to walk away with the best supporting actress prize. In a piece of trivia for Twilight fans, Anna is the second youngest person ever nominated for a Tony Award.
Trailer Available For Anna Kendrick’s Up In the Air
Anna Kendrick’s movie Up in the Air got a favorable review from Slash Film:
“George Clooney stars as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert whose life goal is to rack up ten million frequent fly miles to earn him lifetime platinum member status. But Ryan’s single serving on the road lifestyle is threatened when a recent college graduate named Natalie Keener (Anna Kendrick) devises a system to fire people through internet teleconferencing, rendering his travels as an unneeded expense. Bingham is assigned to take Natalie on the road to introduce her to the real-life conditions of the job, which Bingham argues would be lost in the cost-cutting transition.”

Anna Kendrick has had an interesting acting career that ranges from being the second youngest person ever to be Tony nominated to Twilight to upcoming projects. One that includes George Clooney. However, you guessed it. Anna has also done the “horror thing”.

Kiowa Gordon, who plays Embry, is going to be filming a horror movie in May called Into the Darkness.
The movie’s official MySpace page describes it as, “A group of friends descend upon a remote wilderness area to camp and party reuniting after a year apart. Their decision to embark on a short exploration of an unknown cave system turns into a horrific struggle for survival. Can they find the light before the darkness finds them?”
