USA Today: Comic Con Preview, Bill Condon Quoted

Bill condon handUSA Today has a Comic Con feature and they caught up with director Bill Condon:

“The undead men of True Blood, as well as vampire Edward Cullen and lovelorn werewolf Jacob Black in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight book series, have become key heroes in pop culture, especially to women. Bill Condon, director of the final two Twilight movies, Breaking Dawn, Part I (out Nov. 18) and Part II (Nov. 16, 2012), sees Cullen and Black as part of a long tradition of rooting for the noble monster, dating to the original Frankenstein film in 1931.
“We’ve always had a complicated relationship toward monsters. Don’t you feel like in every Dracula movie, you’re sort of wanting him to get away with it?” Condon says, laughing.”

Jack Morrissey Tweets Bill Condon’s Breaking Dawn Script

Jack Morrissey, Bill Condon’s partner, just tweeted the photo of the Breaking Dawn script. Follow Jack Morrissey on Twitter for more goodies related to Breaking Dawn.

Meet Jack Morrissey: Bill Condon’s Partner With Breaking Dawn Goodies

Back when Laura went to Los Angeles to see the MTV movie awards, she met Jack Morrissey.  Jack is Bill Condon’s partner. Laura sat in between him and Erik Odom during the MTV awards show and the two of them had her laughing the whole time. they are both great guys, very cool, genuine and funny people.

Jack just started a Twitter ( @JackMorrissey ) account and he’ll be giving us some Breaking Dawn tidbits from time to time. Nothing too spoilery, all fun stuff.

So far he’s tweeted out a picture of Bill Condon’s and his dog (named Pigpen). He’s also put up a collection of the Twilight Saga books that they still have. (They had them all but gave away the early ones to an uber fan). And my personal favorite, the picture of Bill Condon’s Breaking Dawn clapperboard!

Also, Jack just did a podcast (called smodcast) with Kevin Smith (yes, THAT Kevin Smith). During the end of the podcast they talk Breaking Dawn and Comic Con and Jack defends the TwiHards right to be at Comic Con and states that by no means did TwiHards ruin anyone’s Comic Con experience in past years despite some moaning from traditionalists. (WARNING: please beware that the language is R-Rated as is typical with Kevin Smith’s shows)

Who Is Attending Comic Con 2011 From Twilight?

So far Summit hasn’t given out their official list yet. If we were betting people (and we are) we’d lay odds on Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Bill Condon. The trio and the director have pretty much been a pattern since the first Comic Con appearance. After that it depends on who has a free schedule, who is in town, etc.

We already know that two Twilight actors are going to be there promoting other projects:

Taylor Lautner will be there to promote Abduction. According to THR:

“The news you’ve all been waiting for: Taylor Lautner is going to Comic-Con.

Sure, we all suspected he was going to be part of the Twilight: Breaking Dawn panel but Lautner will also be on hand to promote his action thriller Abduction. He will be at the Lionsgate booth (#3729 for those of you trying to map out the San Diego Convention Center floor) for a signing Thursday, July 21.”

Kellan Lutz will be there to promote The Immortals (info from Immortals press release):

DATE: Saturday, July 23
1:00pm – 2:00pm: Comic-Con Panel in Hall H
2:30pm – 3:30pm: Official autograph signing at the Convention Center

GUESTS: Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Stephen Dorff, Freida Pinto, Mickey Rourke, and producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari”

Stephen Moyer: True Blood vs Twilight

Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill Compton (incidentally a national newspaper yesterday had the name as “Bill Condon” and I died laughing imagining Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon on True Blood) commented on how he sees the whole vampire craze going.

GM: What do you make of the current vampire craze? It really shows no sign of abating.

SM: It doesn’t seem to be abating. It’s one of those unanswerable questions because when you think it’s one thing, it turns out to be another. … I think in the teen world, there’s a beautiful romance about that stuff. I believe this year the Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart characters [in the “Twilight” saga] have a baby. It’s this perfect romance, this perfect ideal. Ours isn’t quite as fluffy as that … our characters and the way that Alan works is, as soon as a character has a semblance of happiness, he digs a hole for them to drive into.”

USA Today: Rami Malek On Working With Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, and Bill Condon

Rami Malek who plays Benjamin in Breaking Dawn is in the upcoming Toms Hanks and Julia Roberts film Larry Crowne. Rami talked about working with these two modern movie giants and the Twilight Saga with USA Today:

“It [working on Larry Crowne] was an experience where you just kind of watch what’s happening. You can’t take your eyes off her[Julia Roberts] and he [Tom Hanks]has you in stitches the entire time. Some call it work, but I wouldn’t call it that.”

In November, Malek bites into The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, playing a vampire. So is he team Edward or team Jacob? “Wow. No comment on that one. I’m team Bill Condon, how about that,” says Malek, giving the director a shoutout.”

Breaking Dawn Cast And Crew Happenings February 2011 and OSCAR Party With Bill Condon!

Wonder what’s going on up there in Vancouver? Well we told you how the snow has made the schedule interesting. Guri Weinberg who plays Stefan confirmed that on his Twitter tonight. He also is itching to try some local cuisine with Peter Facinelli in tow. Apparently local Vancouver boy, Noel Clarke Fisher (sorry Dr. Who on the brain), made the recommendation of wherever they are going.

In other news the Twilight Takes Over Baton Rouge Facebook group has some info. As their info tends to be reliable we are putting it up. All we can say is WE WISH WE WERE THERE!!!!! HOW COOL!

You can find them on Facebook. They are also having a charity auction featuring some actor signed items. A local children’s hospital benefits.

Now the best news also seems to come from Guri Weinberg’s Twitter. He hinted that the cast will be going on some kind of PR tour. The dates and locations are still being worked out, but he did mention two: Nashville and New York City.

LA Times Talks to Robert Pattinson and Bill Condon

The LA Times spoke with Robert Pattinson on the Golden Globes red carpet, and by phone with Bill Condon.

“Speaking by phone this month, director Bill Condon, who’s helming both installments of the finale, said he has been thrilled with what he’s seen from his leads. “All the characters are moving [in this chapter],” he said. “It’s really about the passage from adolescence to adulthood, and they all seem energized by that. It’s the stuff they are all connecting to in their lives.”

As for Pattinson specifically, Condon added, “Now he’s dealing with a character who’s like him. The final movie allows us to step behind the curtain of what it’s like to be a vampire. It doesn’t seem that exotic anymore; It’s trying to be more real.”

The director, though, was reticent to share any details of the production, which is filming in both New Orleans and Vancouver, Canada, with a jaunt to an island off the coast of Brazil — a location that might in the end prove the most memorable to Condon, because the entire cast and crew needed for the honeymoon scene was stranded after a long day of filming.

“It was incredible. We got caught in the middle of this huge rainstorm — I’ll remember it forever,” Condon said. “Eighty people sleeping on the floor of the set. We couldn’t leave.”
