Twilight Cast Packing Out and Heading to Vancouver

The Twilight cast have roughly a week’s worth of filming left in Baton Rogue (barring any unforeseen delays). They are then heading up to Vancouver (as the Vancouver Sun reports)where they will be filming what is assumed to be mostly exterior work. (photo via Twifans)

Both the Bella’s House location and the Jacob’s House location are anticipated. Fans however shouldn’t bank on being able to actually see any filming though. The Bella’s house location is in the middle of a long roadway with deep woods flanking it on all sides. The production in the past has blocked access on filming days. Though, the house is easy enough to see when there isn’t filming.

The same is essentially true with the Jacob’s house location. Instead of it being in the middle of a roadway, it’s a corner property. However, the barriers (in the past) have been such that no one was really able to see anything. The only exception were photographers who managed to snag a cherry picker. During the Eclipse shoot they were lifted just high enough to get an obstructed view of the wolfpack in bathrobes between takes. That incident actually freaked Bronson Pelletier out as he explained at one of the Creation Entertainment Twilight Conventions. The photographers were using laser devices to presumably judge the distance of their shots. Well, imagine the reaction when a small red dot from a beam of light landed on Bronson’s chest. Though harmless, the high-tech, laser sighting looks exactly like the rifle scopes portrayed in movies.

We’ve reported before on how there has been essentially no news or photographs coming out of Baton Rogue. With a corp of entertainment photographers, paparazzi, and press based in Vancouver, this will likely change. Baton Rogue has been very, very laid back. Almost unbelievably, the cast has been out numerous times to clubs/dinner without a bevvy of followers, lookers-on, press, etc. They have come in and out of the airport, tweeted departure times, and almost no one has gotten an airport photo.

It’s a different culture in Vancouver, they’ve had a thriving movie and TV industry for years, there is a large base of tipsters, photogs, etc based there 24/7. Count on a series of airport arrival shots, and that’s just for starters. With apologies to the Wizard of OZ, we have a message for the new cast members heading north “Welcome to Vancouver new vampires, you’re not in Kansas anymore!”

Breaking Dawn Baton Rouge Filming: Refreshing, Frustrating, or Infuriating

The running joke among the Lexicon staffers is that they are filming Breaking Dawn in the Stalag 17 set. If you have ever seen the movie you’ll understand why. The complex where they are shooting at the Celtic Media Center in Baton Rouge is surrounded by a big fence and has lots of cinder-block type buildings with no windows.  The grounds are patrolled by a top notch security team. Seriously, all they are missing is the roaming searchlights and a couple of snarling German shepherds. You need ID and authorized clearance just to get on the property.

So the long and short of it is, other than for one brief instance when they prepped the Volturi outside and another brief instance when they shot at a local public park(which only yielded photos of shrubs and a giant green screen), no one has been able to see anything in Louisiana, because nothing has been in public view. The only shots we’ve seen are those out of Brazil that were taken by the flotilla off shore in public waters or by those residents in Rio who observed filming from their apartments or on public land by the marina district.

The ladies over at Letters to Twilight even recently commented on it. “BREAKING NEWS: Still no new set pictures or actual evidence that they’re doing anything in Baton Rouge. SHOCKING”

Cast sightings are occasionally posted on Twitter, like Robert Pattinson seen jogging in the university area and other cast members out on the town dancing, but overall there doesn’t seem to be the wild frenzy in Baton Rogue that there was in Vancouver with a bevvy of photographers camped outside their lodgings and then chasing them all over town from Starbucks to dinner events. One of our other running jokes is, “Oh look, Kellan goes to Starbucks day 92.” We actually found the turn for the hotel where we were supposed to meet for our New Moon set visit because we had seen just that many photos of the distinctive Starbucks on the corner and knew we were close.

In fact Ted Casablanca’s team over at E! Seems to have been thwarted when they attempted to get some dirt on a cast members’ night out. “No, sorry but we have bigger things to worry about than them…like the economy.”—Spokesperson for Tsunami restaurant in Baton Rouge, La., when we called to see if Hollywood Life’s item about Robert Pattinson‘s “wild, boys’ night out” had any truth to it.”

It’s pretty different from the response in Vancouver where the restaurant dished on …well…frankly what the cast dished on.

On the other hand, Bill Condon seems to do better than David Slade in the communication and photo department. We’ve gotten 3 official stills instead of crew members throwing fish in lakes.

So how do you feel about the lack of coverage: Refreshing, Frustrating, or Infuriating?

Twilight Fans Perched on Government Building to Catch a Glimpse of Filming

It certainly seems like our Southern Twilight fans are just as dedicated as those in the Pacific Northwest! According to The Advocate:

“Jamie Ryan, 28, said it was her first time visiting Baton Rouge as she peered over the ledge of the State Capitol building’s observation deck on Friday afternoon, bundled up against the cold wind that whipped her hair around.

She’d flown in from Lubbock, Texas, on Thursday and had been perched on the lookout post for more than four hours with brand-new binoculars pressed to her face.

But Ryan wasn’t interested in the sights of the capital city — her eyes were locked on the enormous green screen erected in Arsenal Park, trying to catch sight of the stars of the “Twilight” movie filming there.

“I’m staying right here,” she said of her spot, where at least five other fans lingered around her. “I am determined to see something.”

“Twilight” mania hit the streets of downtown Baton Rouge this week when the movie’s crew began building a massive green backdrop near the State Capitol building that sent the local rumor mill and online forums into a frenzy.”

Quote from Bill Condon:

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1. The shot, which is only available in Entertainment Weekly’s print edition, features Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) as husband and wife…on their wedding night. “It’s one of the most anticipated scenes,” Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon tells EW. “I spent a tremendous amount of time thinking about it. The anticipation is part of it and you want to play with what people expect and maybe subvert it a little and surprise them.

Entertainment Weekly will have the photo only in their latest edition that appears on newsstand tomorrow! It WILL NOT be in their online edition.
