Jodelle Ferland Slated For Eclipse

Variety (who tends to get casting info correct) broke the news that Jodelle Ferland has an upcoming role in Eclipse, but they didn’t name which one. The description reads, “a vampire who has just been turned”.

We’ve put out feelers to determine if she is playing perhaps Maria, Bree, or and unnamed newborn. If the ink isn’t quite dry on the contracts, we may not get confirmation straight away.

Check out her fansite which has a lot of images of Jodelle that are more recent than what is found commonly on the Internet. She looks much older in this headshot dated February of this year than the myriad of other shots around the Internet.

Twilight Examiner Interviews Peter Facinelli

Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner, was able to sneak in a brief moment during TwiCon to speak with Peter Facinelli about Eclipse

“AB: What was your favorite part of Eclipse?

PF: I actually like that, in the book, a lot of the family members are talked about, and in the movie they’re in it a lot more. The books are all told from Bella’s perspective, so a lot of times, when she’s not in the scene and things are happening, you don’t actually get to see them, like the battle scene, for instance. In Eclipse when the whole family and the werewolves are fighting the newborn vampires, it’s talked about and through Edward you kind of get something, but in the movie you actually get to see it, you know, so I like that in the interpretations of the movies, it’s not always about Bella’s perspective. She isn’t always in the scene, and so that opens up the story a little bit. The Cullens are in it a lot more throughout.”

Bryce Dallas Howard Replaces Rachelle LeFevere

This just in from Summit:

THE TWILIGHT SAGA ADDS ACTRESS
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD TO FILM FRANCHISE

Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria

Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Adam Sandler Competes With Eclipse

According to HitFix the latest Adam Sandler movie has just moved its release date:

” Summit Entertainment’s “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” has June 30 staked out and the M. Night Shyamalan adaptation of “The Last Airbender” were already set to open two days later on July 2.  This was curious enough that many industry execs wonders whether the “Twilight” Moms would take their kids to “Airbender” or drag their daughters to “Eclipse” instead.  Now, Columbia Pictures has moved the Adam Sandler buddy comedy “Growns Ups” from it’s previously announced March 12 release to June 25.  That’s only five days before “Eclipse”…Could it put a dent in the Eclipse box office total?”

Check out HitFix for the the whole analysis.

Eclipse To Start Filming In August

Coming Soon is stating that Eclipse will begin filming August 17th in Vancouver and wrap on October 30th. Keep in mind that New Moon started ahead of its predicated dates and wrapped on time, so take the info as a loose guideline because these things change.

We would anticipate that the “tight wrap” kept on New Moon filming will continue with Eclipse. Like New Moon, a majority of the scenes (assuming they stick closely to the book) would be interiors or locations that are easily blocked from public view such as the much visited Bella’s and Jacob’s house locations.

David Slade: FearNet Interview Take 2

As many of you observed in our comments the David Slade interview sounded a little off on FearNet. Some of the quotes didn’t really make sense. Well there’s a perfectly logical explanation, apparently somewhere along the line David got misquoted, and FearNet has revised the article(we bolded some differences but there are others), notably:

“What will differ about Slade’s Twilight? “I don’t really know.  We haven’t even started shooting yet.”  While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.”  “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits.  “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.”  And just how will he do that?  “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jasper, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”

David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework.  “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “from the point of view of a 17 year old girl. But once I got past that, I found them to be really good stories.”  He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg.  Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.”

Open Casting Call For Eclipse

Summit has announced that they will be having an open casting call for the roles of Leah and Seth Clearwater in Eclipse. This is a legit announcement, direct from Summit not a scam. It should also be noted that it’s not a contest, but what is known in the industry as an “open casting call” so professionalism (meaning doing a legit audition and following instructions to the letter) counts!

NOTE THE FINE PRINT: “Submissions must be received by June 30th. You must be a legal resident of the U.S. or Canada and fourteen (14) years of age or older to submit an audition. Please stick to the script provided and do not post your audition video to any other site.”…In other words don’t put it up on YouTube or you automatically disqualify yourself.

All the details can be found here.

Tom Felton As Riley?

We’ve had a ton of Tweets and emails, not to mention a request to advertise an online petition, concerning actor Tom Felton.  Tom is mostly recognized for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. It seems that he’s a popular fan favorite, and somehow the online discussion went from “he’d be great in this part” to “he’s been cast in this part”.

The Tom Felton fansite, Feltbeats.com, that Tom regularly communicates with, has been similarly bombarded. So, they asked Tom, and this is what he had to say:

“I’ll be ready when they want me! Really, I’m only joking. I’m not really sure at this point; but you will be the first to know if I find out anything!”

Tom later Tweetedi keep getting asked if i’m being cast as Riley in Twilight! I’ll let you all know if so!!!”

Eclipse Casting

Marc Malkin over at E! got a look at the Eclipse casting notice that just started to circulate.

Here are some of the descriptions shared by Marc:

“Riley “is a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria,” the notice reads. He’s in his early to mid 20s and “plays an integral role in Victoria’s attempt to murder Bella Swan.”

Seth Clearwater is a “tall, gangly-limbed boy with a huge, happy grin. Seth idolizes Jacob.

She[Leah Clearwater] is tall and slender with beautiful skin and short cropped black hair. She would be considered gorgeous if not for the perpetual scowl she carries due to a broken heart and her anger issues.”

Also, according to Marc, Rob was invited to do the musical number at the awards, but the timing just didn’t work out. Grab the video here because E! embed code is way messed up.

In answer to what will probably be the next set of  “how can I audition” questions to hit our inbox, if you are already “in the business” no doubt this is something your agent/manager can assist you with.  As far as we know, they are not up to extras casting at this point. No doubt any extras used will be Vancouver locals. If you have never been involved in the acting business before, don’t get scammed by the various ads stating “Twilight casting now” it’s a scam to sell you acting lessons and headshots. They aren’t in any way connected to the film. If you want some legit information on casting, visit Lana Veenker’s blog. It has a ton of info, Lana was invovled with the casting of Twilight (the first movie).
