MTV: What Can We Expect on Oprah

The folks over at MTV have asked what I think all fans are asking: What can we expect to see on Oprah today? Obviously, we will see the final trailer for Eclipse. Hopefully that trailer will give us more of a glimpse of the action and suspense of the film like the New Moon trailer did as well as more of the actual romance. And because Nikki Reed, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Julia Jones will be on the live chat feed after the trailer debuts on the main Twilight internet channels, MTV speculates that they may show up on Oprah as well. They also assume that some other cast members might appear, which we can only assume means Rob, Taylor, or Kristen. Read the whole story over at MTV News.  It’s been pointed out by Molly G. that the Twilight twitter account said Dakota Fanning will be on Oprah to debut the trailer.

Poll: What are you most looking forward to in Eclipse?

News is slow today, folks.   I’m just going to come out and admit it!  But as I’ve learned over the years, Twilight fans love to share their opinions, especially when it concerns how things will translate from book to film.  I’d like to know which scene you are all most looking forward to seeing make that move from book to film.  Since I haven’t seen the film, I’ve made the choices from scenes I’ve heard the actors talk about – scenes that I know were at least filmed and will probably make the final cut of the film.  Kristen Stewart has spoken about the scene where Bella imagines a life with Jacob.  We’ve heard rumbles about Jasper and the newborns.  We’ve had hints to Rosalie and her bridal death scene.  We know Edward and Bella end up engaged.  Victoria has to die.  David Slade even tweeted about the tent scene.   So I’m pretty sure all of these moments will be in the final film.  Vote for the one you are most excited about and let us know why you chose that scene.  If there is another scene you’re crossing your fingers for, let us know about that one, too!

Eclipse Reshoots?

eclipsecropRumor surfaced today on the Lainey Gossip site also on Mandy’s blog that there would be partial reshoots of Eclipse happening in the Vancouver area shortly. Lainey Gossip is based out of Vancouver and has multiple industry connections there for mostly accurate information on Twilight filming (keep in mind that this site does contain strong language and what is at times considered not work safe items). Edited to include missing link

For those of you that know Twilight shooting history, you know that this is not the first time in the Twilight Saga franchise that reshoots have taken place. Catherine Hardwicke had to reshoot several key scenes months after filming in Portland had wrapped. Specifically Catherine shot the infamous meadow scene on a golf course in the LA area and the 1930’s flashback to Forks scene (Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed in period clothes) months after filming had wrapped. In fact at the time, many questioned why the scenes with Kellan, Nikki, and Peter could have just been reshot in LA rather than dragging everyone back to Portland.

We have asked Summit for a statement, when we get one we will amend this entry.

So, what do you think movie business as usual, or a matter of concern?

EDITED: Summit has directed us to Gossip Cop who has completely busted the story.

An ”exclusive” earlier today made big waves by claiming that “key scenes” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse need to be reshot in Vancouver, and speculated that the development indicated production on the June release was troubled.
Gossip Cop looked into it, and we have answers.
First, regarding the implication that these reshoots were unexpected, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “The reshoot was planned for months, like it is with the majority of films.”
Let Gossip Cop settle some other false rumors.
Contrary to the report, “creative differences” have not led Summit to consider bringing in another director for the reshoots.
David Slade is directing them, as he has the entire movie, and the studio is “very happy” with his direction of a film internally believed to be the best of the series.  As for the timing, speculation that there will be three rushed days of 18-hour shoots is incorrect. A Summit rep tells Gossip Cop that it’s a two-and-a-half to three-day shoot, and that “very little” has to be reshot.  But the biggest misconception concerned the specific scenes alleged to be those in need of a reshoot. The Summit rep confirms to Gossip Cop, “None of the meadow or action scenes are being reshot.
Asked to comment on today’s alarmist rumors, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “Reports much like this one are ploys to drive traffic without any merit and without any support from the studio on what is actually going on or true.”

Hit Fix: Will Eclipse Make Less Money Than New Moon?

eclipsecropSo far the Twilight Saga movies are on the rise. New Moon beat Twilight’s box office total in under 14 days, but what will happen with Eclipse? Frequently, franchise movies aren’t on a constant build. For example the Harry Potter movies have had their ups and downs. Harry Potter and the Socerer’s Stone, the initial movie in the series, remains the best selling Potter movie followed by Half-Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix. The Prisoner of Azkaban, third in the series, is the least successful at the box office.

Hit Fix examines the possibilities:

“One of the films expected to battle for the summer box office crown or at least place in the top five is the third “Twilight” feature, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”  The second installment, “New Moon,” broke the single day all-time opening record with $72 million, is currently the third biggest 3-day opening of all time with $142 million and ended up with $296 million domestic and $707 million worldwide.  And that was all in November when many of the franchise’s younger fans had school on Friday (although let’s assume many of them cut out early).  “Eclipse’s” June 30 release should find those young tween girls out of school and flocking to the theater. Adding more intrigue to the box office gross is that “Eclipse” will also be released in IMAX theaters which feature higher ticket prices.  So, a larger opening weekend is guaranteed right?  No doubt, but what happens after that?”

See more at Hit Fix.

So what do you think?  In our experience, Eclipse tends be the favorite book of many fans of the  series.  It certainly ranks as the favorite book of many of the actors. Will that fuel the box office?
