FearNet: Jackson Rahtbone Part 2, From Dread to Airbender and What Is Fear

jacksonrathbonedreadJen Yamato is back with part 2 of her Jackson Rathbone interview on FearNet.

“In his time off from the ongoing Twilight series, Jackson Rathbone decided to dive right into a film about the nature of fear itself: Dread, based on the Book of Blood short story by horror-fantasy author Clive Barker. In the film, adapted and directed by Anthoni DiBlasi, Rathbone plays Stephen, a mild-mannered film student who gets caught up in a classmate’s study of fear — a project that takes an unexpectedly dark and disturbing turn.

FEARnet spoke with Rathbone by phone as he was preparing to play New Orleans with his band, 100 Monkeys, with whom he’ll be touring right up to the start of his promo duties for June’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. (Read our Eclipse-focused chat with Rathbone here) Rathbone discussed his reasons for taking on the part in the gory psychological thriller — including the behind-the-scenes story of his brush with a live maggot, partially documented on the Dread DVD, out this week — and how the disparate worlds of Dread and Twilight both fit into his multi-faceted career.

Rathbone also recalled his challenging guest spot on Criminal Minds as a killer with multiple personality disorder and spoke about fight training for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, his upcoming fantasy-action film. Dallas fans can catch Rathbone in person on April 24, when he appears with 100 Monkeys at the Spencer Bell Legacy Concert in memory of his late friend, Spencer Bell, whose posthumously-released song Beautiful, More So also marks Rathbone’s music video directing debut.”

KCA 2010: Updates – The Bieb Speaks

Kids Choice Awards 2010

Voting is still open so, if you haven’t voted yet you still have a chance if you act quickly!.

Aside from the stars featured in the video, Jackson Rathbone is slated to be there. He is promoting The Last Airbender with his co-star Nicola Peltz.   Last year Taylor Lautner picked up the award for Stephenie Meyer for Twilight winning the favorite book series, and somehow he didn’t get slimed!  Anyone hoping we see Jackson getting hit with some green goo tonight?

Fearnet: Jackson Rathbone on ‘Love-Lust’ in ‘Twilight: Eclipse’

Rathbone stareJen Yamato, one of our favorite bloggers, is back with a Jackson Rathbone interview. So good that Jackson is doing press. i mean did we have a dry spell with Jackson or what!

“FEARnet caught up with Jackson Rathbone, currently on tour with his band 100 Monkeys, for more details on what to expect from Jasper’s steamy Civil War-era flashbacks. He teased his scenes with Oscar-nominated actress Catalina Sandino Moreno, who plays the vampire Maria, and gave us a glimpse of what we’ll see in Jasper’s back story. (Hint: Fighting! Horses! Lust!)

In addition to his Civil War days, expect to see Jasper’s training put to good use in Eclipse‘s present, as he trains his fellow Cullens for battle. But fun as those scenes were, Rathbone tells us he had a particularly strange time throwing punches at certain cast-mates…

(Fans following Rathbone’s parallel music career: also see what he said about taking 100 Monkeys on the road after their current U.S. tour.  And stay tuned for more from our chat with Rathbone on his horror flick Dread!)”

Hollywood Crush: Jackson Rathbone and Jasper’s Journey

jacksonrathboneMTV’s Hollywood Crush caught up with Jackson Rathbone and had a few questions. Jackson talks about working with David Slade and literally getting back in the saddle again:

“”There are some really cool action scenes,” Jackson told Hollywood Crush. “We worked with some amazing stunt men and women who were so incredible and just a lot of fun to work with and collaborate with. They taught me a lot. So I hope to see a lot more of the action [in the next ‘Eclipse’ trailer].”

Though we don’t learn much about Jackson’s Jasper Hale in “Twilight” and “New Moon,” his background is explored much more in “Eclipse.” “I’m excited for a step up with Jasper’s character,” Jackson said. “It’s been two, three years and now I get to kind of go outside and show a little bit more of what makes Jasper tick. We get to go into his back story — see where he came from, who he was before, what makes him who we see in the first film of ‘Twilight,’ what makes him seem like he’s always in pain, why he’s always in pain … because he is.”

So why, exactly, is he in so much agony? “He’s almost depressed,” Jackson said. “He wants to live a good life. He wants to be part of the Cullen family. He is the newest to this vegetarian vampire way of life, and he’s still trying to be part of that and address his inner demons and what he used to be. It was really fun to be able to express that.”

Jackson Rathbone Compares Twilight and Dread

jacksonrathbonedreadJackson Rathbone is a pretty busy guy he has Eclipse, The Last Airbender coming out this year. Dread hitting DVD. He filmed the indie feature The Girlfriend which also features 100 Monkeys music, and then there’s the 100 City Tour he’s on with the band 100 Monkeys. He also is rumored to just have landed a role in Truckstop, and then there’s Breaking Dawn which, given his schedule, is probably good that it’s not a Jasper heavy book!

MTV caught up with Jackson (although we aren’t sure how given his busy schedule) and talked to him about Dread and Twilight.

“Despite the fact that “Twilight” isn’t really a scary movie, Rathbone said there are similarities between “Twilight” and “Dread.” “One of the things I like is when different worlds collide. With the ‘Twilight’ films, you have the horror element of the vampire, but it becomes more of a romantic action film with the vampire falling in love with the girl. With ‘Dread’ it’s kind of the same thing. Clive Barker’s world is usually more of a mythical gothic world, but ‘Dread’ is more of a personalized psychological thriller instead of a horror. It has the horror elements, but it’s much more of a person-to-person drama.”

Last year Twilight won as best book and Taylor Lautner was there to pick up the award on behalf of Stephenie Meyer.  Somehow Taylor managed not to get slimed. This year, according to some well spotted commercials and a press release, it looks like Jackson Rathbone is going to be there promoting The Last Airbender, which started out as a Nickelodeon series.

There are commercials starring Jackson and Nicola Peltz(his co-star). Somehow we are thinking that Jackson, unlike Taylor, is not going to be able to avoid the green goo!  via the Racebending LiveJournal Community
