100 Monkeys Debut New Songs

MTV’s new Hollywood Crush blog talked to Jackson Rathbone about New Moon and to see if 100 Monkey might be soundtrack material.

““We’d love it,” Rathbone told MTV News. “[But] we’re not really pushing for it,” he said. “It’s one of those things where if they want to put our song on the album, I’m not going to complain.” The 24-year-old describes his band’s sound as “old school rock and roll,” that is heavily influenced by blues and funk. “It’s not whiney music,” he added.”

100 Monkeys Meet the Band

This weekend 100 Monkeys has added a special CD signing gig at a Barnes and Noble in Allentown PA.  According to the area paper Leighigh Valley:

“[The band]… will have a CD signing Sunday at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, then perform 8 p.m. at Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown.

The CD signing is set for 2 to 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble. The store will open at 9 a.m. and hand out a limited amount of wristbands, a news release says. Fans must purchase a 100 Monkeys CD to receive a wristband.

Tickets for the all-ages show at Crocodile Rock, 520 Hamilton St., are $10.”

Now tonight when we spoke with the representative from 100 Monkeys we learned that there are less than 100 tickets left. All of their recent shows in Philly and NYC have sold out. You don’t want to get caught short, so order ahead of time!

The Lexicon is going to be covering the show and interviewing the band.  So, if you have a 100 Monkeys question for Jared, Jackson, Ben or Ben make sure you comment below! (Please focus the questions on the band and not the upcoming movie unless it is a soundtrack related question.)

We also hear that the band is going to debut FOUR new songs at the Allentown show. AND two lucky fans are going to be selected from the audience and they’ll get to meet the band backstage.

Philly Area Fans Set Those TIVOS

A local Philly station(make that an Allentown area station) interviewed Jackson Rathbone today and promises more goodies to come.

Jackson Rathbone’s Upcoming Gigs

This weekend 100 Monkeys are playing in Philadelphia.  The 3:00 show is for all ages so under 21’s  no worries, you can get in. The 9:00 show is 21+.  We will be there to cover the show.

It looks like Jackson’s work on The Last Airbender is going to prepare him for an upcoming role, or at the the Greenland weather that he endured will.  He will also likely get to use some of his muscial training. Jackson will be filming in Norway. The film is a dark one called Lords of Chaos. Jackson will play Varg Vikernes, former leader of the Norwegian black metal band Burzum.

Check out the details on Rolling Stone.

Last Airbender and Eclipse Go head-To-Head

USA Today has an article featuring the first set photos of The Last Airbender, the M. Night Shyamalan film that Jackson Rathbone is currently shooting in Philadelphia. The photos and article make it clear that ( as you would expect in this series if you know the plot ) that the action sequences are going to be awesome especially since two of the leads are able to do many of their own stunts given that they have a martial arts background.

However there is a more interesting fact revealed in the article: “the show that opens July 2, 2010” that’s two days after Eclipse opens. So it looks like Jackson’s film and Eclipse are going to be battling for your box office dollar the same weekend.

What do you think the battle with Victoria and the newborn army as directed by David Slade, or the battle to regain control of a world directed by M. Night Shyamalan which will win out at the box office?

Jackson Rathbone Talks With Radar Online

Jackson Rathbone spoke with RadarOnline about is 100 Monkeys Plans and how Twilight has affected his private life.

RadarOnline: Your character in Twilight, Jasper, is so withdrawn and cold. Do you think fans are a little hesitant to approach you in public? Especially compared with some of your castmates?

Jackson Rathbone: People rarely recognize me, which is actually pretty sweet. I try to change my look in every role I take on: clothing, hairstyle, walk, facial expression, and the way I speak. Sometimes it’s subtle and sometimes it’s not, but as I am not a blonde in real life, people often do the double look before approaching me.”

The good news is that at least one show is open to all ages, so under 21’s no worries there. Some other shows involve a cover minimum. Jackson also hinted in the video below that perhaps more are in the works. He name dropped Texas and NYC as well as how the band has gotten fans to help them obtain a few gigs.

Twicon Has Jackson Rathbone Up Close & Personal

This press release just in from Twicon:

Exclusive TwiCon Event With Jackson Rathbone!

For the first time at any conference anywhere, Jackson Rathbone will be offering an intimate and personal chat session at TwiCon 2009!  On Sunday, August 2nd from 10am-12pm, Jackson will join 500 fans for coffee, questions and answers, and possibly even an acoustic song or two.  It’s all about getting to know Jackson better, so he’ll be taking questions directly from fans, as well as giving 25 lucky attendees some face time by personalizing memorabilia (to be provided by the attendee) on stage in front of the audience!  Here’s how the event will work:

Fans will be seated banquet-style after grabbing a cup of coffee (provided).  During this time, screened questions will be gathered from the audience by TwiCon staff.  Each table with an approved question will receive a numbered card, which indicates the order of the questions to be asked.  The attendee designated by that table will stand and ask their approved question when it is their turn.  Jackson will be casually seated on stage and has graciously welcomed the opportunity to give the fans a closer peek into his life, so we ask in advance that the screaming be kept to a minimum during the Q&A as a respectful gesture to Jackson. We will allow attendees 2-3 minutes for flash photography upon his entrance, but photography without flash will be allowed at any time.  All attendees must be seated unless standing for a question or if they are chosen as a winner for face time with Jackson (there will be no information given on how to win until the event begins!).  Fans may ask questions of a somewhat personal nature, but remember that these questions will be screened and any inappropriate questions (boxers or briefs is not appropriate!) asked that were not approved will constitute immediate ejection from the event.  So be sure the question we screen is the question you ask!  After the Q&A, Jackson may or may not perform a song or two alone on stage.  When winners are selected to greet Jackson on stage, they will be asked to bring the item they would like signed on stage with them, give a brief introduction and Jackson will then sign and personalize the memorabilia for them.  The winner will then leave the stage and the next winner will go up.

Interested?

Tickets for Jackson’s exclusive coffee chat are $25 each.  There are only 500 tickets available.  Tickets will be available for purchase through your TwiCon registration account on Friday, May 15th at 11:59pm EST.  Each registrant is limited to one ticket.  If you are registered in a group, you may purchase one ticket for each group attendee.  As with all of our events, you must be fully registered and paid in full to be eligible for this event, and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.  A waitlist will be created after tickets have sold out; an announcement will be made on our site at that time.  Start thinking about what you’d like to know about the one and only Jackson Rathbone!

See the Twicon site for full details.
