Winter In The Blood Director: Fortunate to Have Chaske Spencer and Julia Jones

Winter in the Blood starts filming this summer and is a labor of love for fim makers who are trying to stay authentic to the Montana experience.

“The story is set specifically in a place that could only be that region of Montana. So many of the people involved — including major investors and partners — are Montanans or at least have a deep love for Montana,” he said. “We’re casting a number of actors who are either from here or have a strong connection to this place.”

When the Smiths focused on Chaske Spencer — alpha werewolf Sam Uley in the “Twilight” Saga and a Lakota Sioux in real life — for lead character Virgil First Raise, they knew him as a New York actor and only later learned he’s from Poplar.
…Another cast member with “Twilight” ties is Julia Jones, who will play Agnes. She was Leah Clearwater in the “Twilight” Saga and is of Choctaw and Chickasaw descent.

“There’s a quality in Chaske and Julia that’s very powerful,” Smith said. “We’re excited we get them at this point in their career where they’re still willing to be in a low-budget film. It will be interesting to see them in a completely different realm. They’re going to have fun playing off each other.”

How Jamie Campbell Bower and Others Got Their Vampire Looks

Bella Sugar has an exclusive interview with New moon make-up artist Leslie Graham:

BellaSugar: You created some of the looks for the vampires in New Moon and Eclipse — who did you look after and what were the key products you used to create their looks?

Leslie Graham: For New Moon I was brought in to be a personal makeup artist for actor Jamie Campbell Bower, who played the role of Caius (one of the leaders of the Voluturi). For Eclipse I did the makeup for all of the Wolfpack [Alex Meraz, Julia Jones and Chaske Spencer], Jodelle Ferland and some of the newborn vampires. On set I would take care of Dakota and the other Volturi. We did a lot of air-brushing using MAC Micronized Airbrushed Formula to give the “onion” skin tone. It has a little silicone in it, which works to keep the makeup in place as we were often working in the woods and in the rain — vampires in the rain can be quite difficult!”

Countdown to Breaking Dawn: Which Twilight Star Has Breakout Potential

BooBoo-as-Seth-218x300Laura’s latest column is up at Movies.com. This week she looks at which stars have breakout potential. Check out and see if your favorites matched up.

“The first three movies certainly shot Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson into the stratosphere, and Taylor Lautner joined them once his role increased starting with The Twilight Saga: New Moon. So does The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 have the potential to showcase anyone? Consider the first part of the novel Breaking Dawn. Two characters leap to the forefront as major players: Seth and Leah Clearwater. Seth has that endearing, boy-next-door quality, and Leah is every fan’s favorite, female bad-ass. Assuming page time equals proportionate screen time, Booboo Stewart as Seth and Julia Jones as Leah have the potential to get to that next level…

On the other hand there are other actors who are Twilight Saga connected from the previous films whose careers are really starting to take off. Rather than just go with what my ideas were, I decided to put out a call on Twitter and ask some of my fellow fans and fan site operators from around the globe what their thoughts were. Overwhelmingly, it came down to three people: Anna Kendrick, Jamie Campbell-Bower, and Kellan Lutz.”

Christian Siriano Covers Fashion With the Twilight Ladies

This was shot at the MTV Movies Awards last week but we just found the footage. Elizabeth Reaser, Bryce Dallas Howard, Tinsel Korey , and Julia Jones all look gorgeous. Lots of good little tidbits here with but the guys and the girls. Julia Jones is my favorite.

Tinsel Korey and Julia Jones at The Official Twilight Convention Los Angeles 2011

We are currently at the Official Twilight convention put on by Creation Entertainment. Usually we live tweet the event, but we haven’t been able to get a signal in the ballroom. We took notes and here are the highlights of what Tinsel and Julia spoke about yesterday. Tickets are still available despite a story in the LA Times that incorrectly stated that there weren’t. Booboo Stewart, Bronson Pelltier, Kiowa Gordon, and Jodelle Ferland are on board today and Peter Facinelli swings by on Sunday.

  • If possible to switch, Tinsel wouldn’t have wanted to switch to the part of Leah because she likes the sweet honesty about Emily
  • Tinsel’s inspiration at writing The Letter was a friend who was facing domestic violence issues. She hopes to make a music video fro the song and is talking with The Hillywood Show about possibly producing it.
  • Breaking Dawn changed Tinsel in that she thinks she has acquired a larger fanbase. She’s always worked steadily as an actress and hopes she will continue to do so. She recently started a tumblr site for advice to aspiring actors.
  • Tinsel when she reads the books is Team Edward in the movies she is Team Jacob
  • Tinsel’s pet peeves are annoying people on airlines, people who stand up as soon as the plane lands. She recently had to deal with people who wouldn’t get out of their seats to let her get to a window seat they just moved their feet slightly. She said, “Mam, I’m sorry but I don’t want to crawl over your husband.”
  • Tinsel doesn’t like meeting celebrities because she once met a famous person she looked up to and the person was a jerk and it ruined her image of that person. She doesn’t want her images dashed again. She did recently meet Michelle Rodriguez at a red carpet event and was slightly star struck by her.
  • In honor of Tinsel’s birthday, the girls who run the Tinsel Korey online website gave Tinsel a cake that got a little mushed because “the cake had a fight with the GPS in the car”/ They also collected online and raised $250 for St. Mary’s Foodbank in Arizona which is a cause dear to Tinsel’s heart. Tinsel choked up upon receiving the gift. (see video on St. Mary’s below) Tinsel then told the audience about how she got involved in St, Mary’s and that her other favorite charities are anything involving Native American/First Nations kids in the performing arts.
  • Julia Jones came right from the set and had a bit of a scratchy throat, but she was still really excited for her Q&A

    • Julia feels like shooting the Twilight movies has given her great insight into guys. She feels like she has been backstage at a boys club and hanging with the wolfpack has demystified guys for her a bit.
    • Cee-Lo and Forget You is her favorite song right now
    • Julia didn’t read the books until after she got the role. She just skimmed them before her audition because there wasn’t time. Her friends were big fans and gave her details. Then afterwards she read all the books in a week and was obsessed and now she’s a superfan.
    • Her worst day filming ever was what she calls Black Friday which was the campfire scene in Eclipse. It was pouring rain all night long. they shot from 10:00pm to 6:00am. The tarps only covered three people at a time and they dripped. They would get full and then dump tons of water. Alex Meraz got hit twice by a huge waterfall of water. It was really miserable.
    • Julia got star struck by Geoffrey Rush when she met him after a broadway play.
    • Julia is really gullible and Alex Meraz is always getting her to believe stupid things.
    • Julia loves moviemaking but would be a photojournalist if not into acting.
    • Julia says if you want to get into acting treat it like any other profession and take classes and study

Julia Jones Interviewed By Hollywood Chicago

Julia Jones was at the Chicago Comic Con ( a local offshoot of the big Comic Con that happens in San Diego each summer) where Hollywood Chicago was able to interview her. (Photo credit: Joe Arce of Starstruck Foto for HollywoodChicago.com)

“HollywoodChicago.com: How do your early days as a dancer help you to navigate the rigors of show business?

Julia Jones: The first thing that comes to mind is the discipline, there is nothing more emotionally, physically and mentally demanding then ballet. You have to push yourself so far as an actor, and you have to deal with a harsh reality, like people being mean to you, and my Russian ballet teachers were really good training for that. [laughs]

HollywoodChicago.com: What has been the most surreal element of being put into The Twilight Saga spotlight?

Jones: For me, just how fast everything changed. I feel sometimes like I’m on a low-grade drug all the time. It’s just that my new reality is different, there is so much more energy hurled at you on a daily basis than before.”

Julia Jones To Visit LaPush For Charity Event

Julia Jones will be visiting La Push as part of the Quileute Nation’s annual fundraiser that goes towards supporting their youth. So if you are going to be in the Forks area for the Eclipse release, consider getting your DVD at LaPush and helping out a great cause at the same time.

According to the Peninsula Daily News:

“Jones, who is making the appearance on the night of the release of the “Eclipse” DVD, will sign autographs for a fee to raise money for the charity, said tribal spokeswoman Jackie Jacobs.

Cherish Our Children, an auction to raise money to buy holiday gifts for needy children, starts at 5 p.m., and Jones will sign autographs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the A-ka-lat center in LaPush.

The charity divides money between the Quileute Housing Authority and Forks Santa’s Workshop, which both give presents to children in need.

“We are thrilled that Julia Jones is joining us for the Cherish our Children event this year,” the Quileute Tribal Council said in a statement.

“During this season of giving, she exemplifies the meaning of giving back, and we give thanks for her generosity . . . Quileute Tribal Council thanks Summit Entertainment and Julia Jones for truly making this a cherished ‘Twilight’ event,” the council said.”

Remember also that if you want authentic goods from the tribe, you can buy them from the online tribal shop.

Tinsel Korey, Julia Jones, and Alex Meraz Grab Some Sugar in Las Vegas

Our friends over at the Quileute Wolfpack site (which by the way is an awesome site for anyone who is Team Jacob focused!) were in Las Vegas to cover an in-store appearance by Alex Meraz, Tinsel Korey, and Julia Jones.

    Here’s part of the account:

“I had rushed to Planet Hollywood at a little past 2:00pm, thinking I was going to be really late for the Sugar Factory appearance, and it didn:t help very much that I had my 16-month old in tow. I found “Princess Parking” on the 4th floor and expertly unfolded the stroller. So there I was, rushing through the Miracle Mile Shopping area, pushing the stroller like a professional F-1 racer through the crowds. But when I got to the Sugar Factory at a little past 2:30pm, I discovered that there was still an awaiting crowd.

I leisurely got tothe back of the make-shift line, and as unsuspecting tourists walked by, they all asked the same question – “What’s this line for?” to which I answered, “Some of the actors from Twilight are here .”

Reactions varied from “OMG! I have to take pics!” to “Twilight? Meh” to “What’s Twilight?” (Seriously? Are you just visiting our planet?)”

Julia Jones Meets Fans at Chicago Comic Con

The admins who run the Julia Jones fansites got to me Julia and to go to her Q & A at the Chicago Comic Con. Here is part of their report:

“Someone asked her if she had anything current or from the past that she was obsessive over like the Twi-Hards are over Twilight. She said the closest thingthat she really liked that came close to obsession was the musical ‘Rent’. She went to New York City one day and slept on 47th street to get front row seat tickets for the musical (I think she said she did this more than once too). She also auditioned for this musical a couple of times as well.

She reads works from the classics’ era, especially Ernest Hemingway. Her favorite actress from back in the day is Audrey Hepburn. She admires her strength, individuality, and especially her desire to not conform to society’s expectations.

If you didn’t know already, Julia has prior experience in modeling. She probably will not go back to doing that anytime soon because she didn’t like feeling objectified. When she was first making her way in Hollywood, she’d be led to projects where she had to look ‘hot and sexy’. She’s pretty certain that she was being led down the ‘sex symbol’ route, “So thank God for the character Leah Clearwater.”

Alex Meraz, Julia Jones, and Tinsel Korey at Tao in Las Vegas

Alex Meraz, Tinsel Korey, and Julia Jones hung out with fans at the beach party at the Tao Beach yesterday. There are some great pictures here. Interesting random fact, Alex apparently has some seriously intricate ink on both his feet, who knew?

A reporter also interviewed the trio on career vs celebrity and being in the public eye.

What’s the testosterone level like on the set?
