Kristen Stewart Talks Eclipse on the Yellow Hankerchief Red Carpet

IESB: Kristen Stewart on the Yellow Hankerchief

kristen-stewart-VF-outtakeIESB has a terrific interview with Kristen Stewart that covers the work she did on The Yellow Hankerchief, the Runaways, and her hopes for Breaking dawn and other future projects.

“Q: What was it like to play this character, when you hadn’t done too many major roles, at the time you did this film?

Kristen: Anytime you have to play a person who is not yourself, you’re stepping out of a comfort zone, but that’s what we do. If the role is bigger, that’s just more to chew on, and that’s always good.

Q: What about Martine resonated for you?

Kristen: I can relate to her, in that she’s such the typical girl that really wants to be out there and smiling and totally in the middle of whatever is going on, but has been embarrassed one too many times and has just gone, “I can’t do that anymore.” I feel like she’s also isolated herself. She’s put herself above everyone else. She can’t talk to people because they’ve let her down too many times and, in reacting to that, she made herself better than them. And, through this journey, which is such a cool thing to see such a young person go through, she realizes, “Oh, God, I never looked at you and now I’m opening my eyes and I can see you, and I was wrong.” I liked that.”

Hit Fix: Kristen Stewart and The Yellow Hankerchief

Greg from Hit Fix covered The Yellow Hankerchief press junket talking to Kristen Stewart and Eddie Ramayne.

“It’s hard to believe, but it’s taken over two years for the drama “The Yellow Handkerchief” to theaters. Debuting at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008, the film features great performances by William Hurt, Maria Bello, Kristen Stewart and Eddie Radmayne. Unfortunately, even after “Twilight” and Stewart’s starpower exploded a year ago it took small distributor Samuel Goldwyn to come on board and bring legendary producer Arthur Cohn’s passion project to the screen.

Directed by Udayan Prasad, “Handkerchief” finds Hurt playing an ex-conflict fresh out of prison who is at a crossroads at his life. As he decides whether to pick up with his old girlfriend (Bello), he meets two teenage drifters (Stewart, Redmayne). Are they three four souls who are a new family or wanderers drifting in the night?

Talking to Stewart and Redmayne, I made the point that neither actor had to publicize “Handkerchief.” Both were probably paid close to scale and the film will hardly be a global blockbuster. However, both actors displayed their passion for the film — even if it’s been years since they’ve seen it. ”

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to Present at the Oscars

TaylorandKristenMarc Malken over at E! caught up with Kristen Stewart on the red carpet at the premiere of The Yellow Hankerchief tonight.  It looks like Kristen and Taylor are Oscar bound.

“Yeah, I’m going,” Stewart just told me when I asked if we’d be seeing her on March 7 at the Academy Awards. “Me and Taylor are going to present.”

Stewart admits she’s very nervous.

“I’ve been looking at shoes,” she said. “I’m trying to pick shoes that I know I won’t fall down in.”

Kristen Stewart Gives Yellow Hankerchief Interview?

After we saw the video on the previous entry we figured, OK they asked their one Twilight question, and now they’ll get into a Yellow Hankerchief Interview. So we posted the video in the previous entry and prepared to write a Yellow Hankerchief centric post very much like we’ve done for Remember Me, and Valentine’s Day in recent weeks. Instead, we were in for a bit of an unexpected surprise.

There are 7 more interviews each from 35 seconds to 1 minute 32 seconds.  The commercials and the intro drum riff are longer than some of the videos.  Kristen and her costar, Eddie Redmayne, (who was an incredibly good sport to sit there like a potted palm) were there for the Yellow Hankerchief press junket.  Somehow the majority of the questions all worked back to Twilight. They culminate in the video below where Eddie just rolls his eyes and lets Kristen answer the question. There was next to nothing asked about the movie the Yellow Hankerchief, which is what this press conference was for.

As Twilight fans of course we are interested in Kristen’s take on Bella, but we are also interested in the other projects Kristen is doing in her career for their own merits. It’s our experience that many Twilighters have become fans of the actors because of the initial Twilight introduction, but now look forward to seeing them perform in other things.

We hope these interviews don’t foreshadow a trend. It sort of reminded us how Colin Firth keeps getting asked Mr. Darcy questions 15 years after the infamous wet shirt pond swim. Please let the Remember Me press junket not be an endless barrage of peppering Robert Pattinson with Twilight questions.

We try not to editorialize too much here, but as Twilight fans we’re actually kind of upset. Who knows if anyone in media is listening given they think we’re all tweens, but who knows maybe they are so we’re going to given this one a shot: 1) we want to know what other projects Kristen (or for that matter any other Twilight actor) is doing and what they are about, and 2)it’s kind of insulting to Twilight fans to think we are so selfish to want Twilight to take over another press junket…edited 3)the last thing we want is Twilight actors and their co-stars and directors to be resentful that the Twilight franchise is going to overshadow everything.

Kristen Stewart Weighs In on the 3-D Rumors:MTV Rough Cut

We debunked the rumor that Breaking Dawn would be made in 3-D the other day(don’t worry, it’s not going to be 3-D). We made a joke that Rob’s hair might accidentally take someone’s eye out that way. We think Kristen’s analogy and reaction is funnier!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart To Appear At BAFTA Awards

baftanomineesAs we reported a month ago, Kristen Stewart is nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Awards) Rising Star Award. She is nominated alongside her Adventureland co-star Jesse Eisenberg, Nicholas Hoult, Carey Mulligan, and Tahar Rahim. Since their inception roughly five years ago, the winner has almost always been male and of British descent.  The notable exception is Shia LaBeouf who won two years ago. Last year’s winner was Noel Clarke, most well known for his role as Mickey in the Dr. Who series. Kristen’s toughest competition probably comes from Nicholas Hoult who launched his career in About a Boy with Hugh Grant and currently was on the popular series Skins. BAFTA rising star is a voted category by the British general public so it can be hard to predict what’s going to happen. Given there are several British nominess and the popularity of Twilight, perhaps the vote will be split and Kristen will pull through.

According to the BAFTA Twitter, Robert Pattinson is slated to be a presenter at the awards show, although what he is presenting is unclear.

You can watch the BAFTA’s in the USA assuming you get the BBC America channel this Sunday, February 21st at 8:00pm est and 7:30 Pacific. From information on the BAFTA site, The event itself takes place “Sunday 21st February 2010at the The Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.” Start time is 5:30 gmt (meaning it start at 12:30 est. so if you want to stay spoiler free until it airs on BBC America, stay off the Internet  on Sunday afternoon or you will probably get spoiled.

There is also a Twitter picture showing where Kristen will be sitting.Share photos on twitter with Twitpic

There’s a 30 minute feature on what to expect at the awards here.

Nylon Magazine:Kristen Stewart’s Make-Up Artist

Nylon matthesw

The woman behind Kristen Stewart’s look in not only the Runaways, but also in New Moon and Eclipse chatted with Nylon about her technique.

“Bella Swan’s lips. Joan Jett’s eyes. Kristen Stewart’s cheeks.

You can thank Robin Mathews for all three. The expert makeup artist has painted the faces of everyone from Dakota Fanning to Anna Faris, but, after working on the second and third installments of the Twilight franchise, her latest project just might be her most wild yet. As the makeup department head of The Runaways, she figured out a way to perfect the smoky eye. The good news? She tells NYLON how to get it, sans professional help.

What’s harder: making someone look like a rock star or a vampire?
That’s a good question. Probably The Runaways was a bit harder, because it was recreating real people, icons. It was hard to live up to—although Bella is pretty much a teen icon, too.”
