Melissa Rosenberg Gives Thumbs Up to Slade

Melissa Rosenberg updated her Facebook page regarding Eclipse director David Slade.

“Finally got to spend some time with our new director for Eclipse, David Slade. And I gotta say, he’s great. Very smart, funny, creative. I already knew he was a really talented and visual filmmaker, but now I know he’s terrific to work with as well. Collaborative and, most important (from a writer’s point of view) smart about story, character and emotional arcs. He gets it. And he’s going to make Eclipse into a fantastic movie. So relax Eclipse fans! We’re in good hands.”

Melissa Rosenberg Suggests Channing Tatum

Mark Malkin of E! had a chance to talk to Melissa Rosenberg this past weekend. When he asked her about Eclipse, she had a casting suggestion:

“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well…And there are some complexities to that character,” she adds. He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

Fans Turn Out For Melissa Rosenberg Signing

Melissa Rosenberg signed Twilight scripts yesterday in Los Angeles at the festival of books. All proceeds went to support The Writer’s Guild.

Lexiconer Cindy, pictured left, writes in:

“I thought you might enjoy the photos of Melissa’s script signing session this afternoon at the LA Festival of Books at UCLA. My daughter, Caitlin, and I were first in line for her arrival and I was able to ask her if there was any news at all about Breaking Dawn. She said “nothing yet”… She was also very appreciative of everyone that turned out in support of The Writer’s Guild.

It was great  chatting in line with other gals who had been to Comic Con as well as one who was older like myself and just getting into the extreme passionate fan-dom of Twilight. So it was really fun to share stories, anecdotes and updates with all of them while we waited for Melissa’s arrival. It was well worth the wait!”

Entertainment Weekly tracked down Melissa and asked her about the story on The Wrap about Breaking Dawn being in the works. Looks like Melissa has a whole other point of view because she hasn’t written the script yet:

“The most I’ve heard from Summit is ‘re-read it and start thinking about it.”

Additionally, EW states that More telling, she hasn’t yet received one of the manifestos Meyers(sic) famously puts together before Rosenberg begins turning one of her books into a movie.”
