People Magazine: Volturi Feature

This issue of People Magazine that hits news stands today has a major Volturi feature.  The picture of Charlie Bewley menacingly clutching Ashley Greene’s throat is particularly fabulous!  According to People:

“In New Moon, the second installment in Stephenie Meyer’s wildly popular Twilight saga, readers are first introduced to the ancient ruling class of vampires known as the Volturi. Determined to capture their creepy menace for his screen version opening Nov. 20, New Moon director Chris Weitz has given them custom-crafted blood-red eyes.

“They’re all hand-painted, specially manufactured contacts,” Weitz tells PEOPLE. “They’re opaque red, almost like preying mantis eyes. You can’t really see into them. There’s something terribly off-putting about it.”

There are fabulous high quality pictures on the People site, way better than the scans that leaked earlier in the week. Go check it out on People. We are not posting the pictures here at the request of People magazine.

Hollywood.Com Set Visit Timeline

Hollywood.com has a timeline detailing what their set visit was like. (Sneak peak hint, a timeline is the exact style that the Lexicon’s report is done in for our set visit and you will be getting that info really soon). She has everything from arrival impressions, to a not yet seen interview with Melissa Rosenberg listed. Interspersed within the timeline are the previously seen interviews with Michael Sheen, Taylor Lautner, and Wyck Godfrey. So, now you get a sense of what order and context they happened in.  Here’s a bit from the not yet seen Melissa Rosenberg interview:

MR: I’m really enjoying writing Jacob. Jacob’s a great deal of fun to write. Charlie. Particularly writing for that actor Billy Burke. Charlie is someone — Billy Burke is someone — who you just can give a line to, you can give him a deep emotional line or a funny one-liner, and that guy can deliver anything and always brings something new to it. Of course, I love writing the relationship between Bella and Edward — it’s really important.

The biggest challenge:
MR: The biggest challenge is the Bella/Edward, because you’re always writing a line between real intimacy and what’s true versus overly maudlin or melodrama. True romance and true drama — that’s always the line.”

EDITED: Because this whole set up is really kind of overwhelming in its presentation, we are breaking it up into segments that are easier to find.

Michael Sheen Interview

Hit Fix, Rotten Tomatoes, Hollywood.com and MSN Twilight Fan all hit the New Moon set the same day, and they are now filing their reports:

“I love the thing in the books that Stephenie [Meyer] wrote about how these vampires are all – well, the Cullen family – really beautiful, and that’s what lures people into their web,” Sheen admits. “And yet, Aro is not like that. She describes Aro as being not the same sort of thing. I like the idea that it’s his voice that lulls people in or his sort of demeanor rather than the way he looks, because he looks quite weird and scary. But yes, I’ve tried to go down that route [to]make him very mesmerizing to people, that his voice is gentle and soft. And yet, there’s something kind of unhinged about him.”

Michael Sheen Brought to Tears

Don’t worry, it’s all in a good way. The Prince’s Trust, a UK charity that helps young people, published a book with the help of sponsorship by Starbucks. The book asked various stars which piece of music inspired them to tears. Michael Sheen answered:

“I remember listening to it [Song to the Siren by Tim Buckley] shortly after she arrived and there’s a line in it which goes: ‘Swim to me, Let me enfold you,’ and it just makes me think of her being born and swimming to me, and me being away from her.”

You can get the full story in Michael’s native South Wales paper.

Michael Sheen In Empire

Michael Sheen gave a brief interview to Great Britian’s Empire magazine,

“I had a great time. It was nice to go in and not be playing the main part, just go in for a few days and play this really really extraordinary character. I remember I was thinking, ‘Oh, there’s a bit of a Child Catcher here [from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang]; bit of the Blue Meanie from The Yellow Submarine; bit of Olivier from Richard III. There was a bit of all kinds of stuff.”

Additionally, Michael had nothing but good things to say about his American co-stars.

Just yesterday Michael (who is posing with daughter Lily, who is proudly holding her dad’s OBE medal)received his OBE from Queen Elizabeth II. The BBC has a great video of Michael receiving the honor where he has a grin that makes him look like an incredibly please 12-year-old…meeting the queen does that to you.

Michael Sheen to Be Honored By Queen

Michael Sheen is receiving a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire award, specifially an OBE which gives him the rank of officer.  The  Queen will be conferring this honor at Buckingham Palace.  Where Michael will be surrounded by family.

According to WalesOnline, it marks the first time Michael will meet the Queen. He received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in the The Queen. Michael commented, “This is a huge honour. I am both thrilled and slightly mystified. But very grateful. It’ll be nice to meet the real Queen at last.”

No need to worry that this honor will go to Michael’s head. His daughter, Lily is keeping him well grounded. She’s been referring to him in jest as Obi Wan Sheen.

Michael has been tweeting on his way into the ceremony. The Beefeaters have apparently not disarmed him of his cell phone as of yet. Check out all his great pictures and tweets here.

Michael Sheen Says Goodbye to Vancouver

Once he was safely in Vancouver airport, Michael Sheen Tweeted away his farewell to the city, and snapped a photo of one of the interesting pieces of art in the airport.

To London! And dont spare the horses!”

and

“And so i bid a fond farewell to Vancouver. Its been epic, lush, choc and sound as a pound. Van – you are the Man. See you soon.”

Jamie Campbell Bower has been Tweeting too, but to be honest we’re not really sure who he’s quoting.

New Moon Twitter and Facebook Roundup

First up Michael Sheen wins for the funniest comments:

“Met Stephenie yesterday on the set. She was charming and enthusiastic and very positive. Keep forgetting how freaky i look with my red eyes”

i think Dakota may look the most unsettling though. So angelic yet so weird. As Jane that is of course. like an evil red riding hood.”

Melissa Rosenberg, who the other day spoke about David Slade, now talks about Chris Weitz:

“Writing from the set of New Moon, a ridiculously happy place to be. Everyone is having a gas. Especially me. You’d expect at least one person to be snarky after working so hard for so long but I haven’t heard a single sour note.

Chris Weitz is the zen ringmaster doing a fantastic job. The Volturi look amaaaazing. Michael Sheen embodies Aro so completely, elevating the role to a whole new level. Dakota as Jane knocks me out. Rob and Kristen are gorgeous of course and and and… I probably shouldn’t gush so much, no one will believe that everything is perfect but it is!”

Twilight Cast Round Up

Michael Sheen and Jamie Campbell Bower have been Tweeting about their arrival in Canada. No exact date was given, so clearly they have some healthy respect for the paparazzi.

Mike Welch is now officially done shooting. According to his website:

“Mike had a blast filming on the set of New Moon. He will complete his shoot just in time to return for his appearance at Creation Entertainment’s GRAND SLAM with a Salute to TWILIGHT ON SUNDAY May 3.”

Ashley Greene hosted a launch party at Kitson Melrose for LA designer Joseph Agi for his Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. Kellan Lutz and Marlow (her new puppy) were also there.

Twilight Twitter 411

So, because there still seems to be so much confusion on who has a Twitter and who doesn’t, we thought we’d give you a run down:

The only public Twitter accounts that we can confirm as real are as follows:

Jamie Campbell Bower

Michael Sheen Michael just put up a series of photos (like 12 of them, one featured at the left) check them out.

There are a ton of fake, Kristen Stewart, Rob Pattinson, and Stephenie Meyer accounts. Be skeptical of supposed real accounts, here’s a couple easy ways tell when they are real or fake:

  • Photos are only of official PR shots
  • Tweets happen while actual filming is taking place. 2/3 of the supposed Rob and Kristen accounts send tweets when they are actually on set.
  • If a star has a real account that they have not disclosed to the public, their Tweets are most likely locked because it would be a PR nightmare otherwise. The likelihood of them friending someone they have never met to see private tweets is slim to none.
  • Check the stars official websites and interviews, and see if they mention their official twitters, MySpaces, Facebooks.
  • Check what accounts they are following. chances are they are not just following the accounts of fellow castmates, they do have other friends.

The phenomena isn’t limited to Twilight stars. Aparently someone has just faked a Kaleb Nation account too.  Kaleb just did a great story on how over 26,000 people have been fooled into friending a fake Stephenie Meyer account when clearly right on Stephenie’s own website she lists her only avenues of connecting with the public: MySpace, Twight Saga website (official run by her publisher), and StephenieMeyer.com.

Here is the correct Kaleb Nation account, and here is the correct Twilight Lexicon account.
