Behind the Scenes at MTV

Mark Burnett, who grew up in London’s East End, is  the media genius behind Survivor and other reality TV, is at mission control when it comes to the MTV Movie Awards.  There’s another notable, but lesser known, East Sider along with him at the helm. Only, it’s East Side New Yorker Lee Rolontz.

Like Mark, Lee’s urban bringing helps to bring the show the edge that it’s known for. They have both been at this for years, but have the souls of 20-year-olds. Lee experienced Studio 54 in it’s heyday, and followed Wham (back in the day) to do a rockmentary in Japan.

“It’s the ‘Twilight’-‘Slumdog’ slug-it-out year…It’s courageous of MTV. ‘Twilight’ is not an Oscar movie. It’s a movie that audiences can rally around that hasn’t been anywhere else.”

Check out the feature in the New York City’s Daily News.

Kings of Leon on Team Twilight

MTV talked to Kings of Leon, a great band that has not only caught the attention of Robert Pattinson, but music giants like U2. The band is friendly with both Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson, so there could be some split loyalties.

Their bassist is firmly in camp Twilight, “I really liked ‘Twilight’ a lot. It was a cool, generational kind of movie. I thought it was really pretty.”

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Back in LA

Hopefully Rob and Kristen got a decent rest on the flight from Rome to LA. Jet lag can be brutal, especially after a week filming action scenes in the heat! No idea what airline they flew, but if it’s British Air, they have those really comfy looking chair/beds in first class. They’re going to need all their energy for the red carpet and show at MTV.

There is going to be a ton of coverage from MTV, to ET, and we’re sure other media outlets will be on the redcarpet.

Latest info has Liz Reaser added to the people attending. So be on the lookout for other Twilight stars that might be last minute adds. For that matter it’s MTV, they are always full of surprises, you never know who is going to turn up.

MTV Movie House Rockin

Various Twilight stars have dropped by the MTV Movie House that is being sponsored by Rev3.

Michael Welch (whose fans just redesigned the fan website, awesome new look) dropped by and signed the guest poster. Via Larry Richman (and if you are an indie film fan you need to follow Larry on Twitter!).

Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke aslo added to the wall. By the way, Peter just tweeted that he will be at the show itself.

At last count here’s who’s going to be there (and the count keeps changing):

Robert Pattinson in front row
Kristen Stewart in front row
Taylor Launter three rows back
Kellan Lutz
Ashley Greene
Cam Gigadent
Peter Facinelli

Catherine Hardwicke Interviewed For MTV Awards

Catherine Hardwicke and her infamous bed made it to an MTV interview in preparation for the Movie Awards.

“Talking about the Best Fight nomination for “Twilight” was very interesting. As you know, the fight scene between Edward and James wasn’t actually written in the book — Bella just wakes up in the hospital — so for this, Catherine was able to completely conjure up the scene. She pulled out all the storyboards and talked us through the anatomy of the scene and how both actors prepared mentally and physically for the roles. With a small budget, she even resorted to using a combination of string cheese and chicken for the torn bits of flesh.”

New Moon Trailer to Debut on MTV Movie Awards

That’s right, no need to rush to a theater to see a film you’d rather not in the hopes of a glimpse at the New Moon trailer. You can see it during the MTV movie awards.

“Now we can reveal that the never-before-seen video that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will be introducing on Sunday’s live show is the movie’s first trailer.

The stars will present the premiere of the “New Moon” trailer on the Movie Awards, airing at 9:00 pm ET on Sunday. Then at 10:45 p.m., the high-definition video will debut online.”

MTV Movie Awards: Don’t Miss Out On Voting!

Remember to cast your vote for the MTV Movie Awards.  The voting closes today in all the categories except Best Movie. The Best Movie category will remain open till the actual show. So get over there and get voting.

Robert Pattison, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner are all scheduled to be on the actual show on May 31st. Hopefully Rob and Kristen won’t be too jet lagged having just gotten back from the Italy shoot, which assuming no glitches, wraps on Friday. The show will also feature the first sneak peak at New Moon footage.

Anna Lynne McCord: Why I Gave Up New Moon

MTV caught up with Anna Lynne McCord and asked her why she didn’t join the New Moon cast.

New Moon Clips to Debut on MTV

According to Mark Malken over at E!, New Moon clips will debut at the MTV movie awards. If you remember, last year’s awards was where the ballet studio clip first debuted.  Also, like last year, Robert Pattinson. Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart will be there to present the clip.

The differences this year:

  1. Russel Brand won’t be there to interrupt the cast as they speak
  2. Kristen, Rob, and Taylor are all up for MTV awards
  3. Hopefully the backlot won’t catch fire causing multiple security and logistics changes

Speaking of those awards, get voting on MTV! Twilight is a little lacking in the tallies!

Most people think Comic Con was the first time the cast got a taste of the fan interest, the reality was it started on the MTV Movie Awards in 2008. Check out this video from a year ago, before Rob and Kristen fully realized just how passionate the fans were.
